Freshman: So far though I have only been here minimally, a month and a half, my experience has been decent. My classes and professors are excellent and I have only had a few problems with the books store which professors have been understanding of. Professors are understanding and will listen if you have a valid issue that requires accommodations. My largest issue has been the lack of standardization amongst facilities. The older facilities are crumbling apart and unsafe, while the newer buildings are fantastic. This is specifically true with the residence halls. Some of the halls are desirable and excellent quality while others are unsafe. The difference is students must pay more for quality which is unfair. Students who come from lower-income families and situations shouldn't be forced to live in less satisfactory conditions. Otherwise, I have been enjoying myself. Sophomore: The university is small, which is excellent for accessing professors for help and assistance. Sometimes it is too small socially. The campus is quaint and beautiful during all seasons of the year. If anything could change, it would definitely be the food! As it is difficult to prepare large amounts of food for many students, there could be more offerings for students to get ample nutrition. The housing options offered are nice and expanding, however, it would be nice if there were more single rooms offered for students to have their own quiet spaces. Freshman: When I first toured Valley City State University, there were several things which immediately captured my interest and led to my applying there. First off, walking up to the university, I was struck by the beautiful campus. The buildings and structures were lovely, and walking down the halls and exploring different rooms I could feel that they were filled with history. Then I learned about their fantastic teaching program. I was planning to major in Mathematics education, and their teaching program was exactly what I felt I needed to begin my journey. I think what convinced me the most though, that this was the school for me, was the kind and friendly atmosphere of the campus. Everyone I met was genuinely and very helpful. I felt very welcome there. The only thing I might have changed was during my first semester is was required that I live in a dorm on campus which I couldn’t afford, so I completed this first year online to avoid that. Junior: NDSU is a great campus because it's not too big, but it's also not too small. It feels like the perfect size. I also think the campus is beautiful in terms of its scenery and architecture. There are some beautiful old buildings that have been kept in good condition without being totally refurbished. The professors at this school are amazing as well. They really seem to care about each student's success and they are actually quite informal a lot of times. I've had several professors whom I know on a first-name basis. Junior: I love the close knit experiences that the university provides everyday. Teachers care about their students and will provide one on one instruction of needed. Games and actives are hosted all around campus pretty often and gets students to build relationships with each-other and earn chances at prizes. Media is posted often to keep students in the loop and attending events. It also gives something for the public to follow too if there are athletics to attend. Being in a sports team, my teachers are very receptive to meets and dates that I am not able to attend class. Every class is recorded and able to be accessed even after class is over. It makes it nice if you have to go back and take notes or if you are on the road. Our president makes him self present at every event I’ve seen and is a big supporter of the students here. Junior: My experience with Mayville has been unique because I am an online student who is not located in North Dakota. Most of my classes and professors have been excellent and I have learned a lot through my courses. Administratively, there have been some set-backs and issues. I found Mayville while searching online programs since I'm the primary care taker of my two daughters an work part-time, so I needed flexibility and a great program. Mayville showed up as one of the best online programs out there. While I do think the professors are exceptional, I would love if they updated their program to be more flexible for solely online students and especially students that are not located in ND. Freshman: I really like my experience at WSC so far! The school is very nice and clean. There are always activities that goes on at campus that involve the students. This is a great school to be a student athlete at because of how seriously sports are taken here. WSC is a great place to start if you are looking to transfer onto a four year and even better if you are planning on graduating with an associates degree. There are many things that you can be apart of. Everyone including, professors and staff are all so nice and make the college experience a lot more enjoyable. If I could change something about WSC, I would make the campus food more enjoyable and have more options for the students. Freshman: Lake Region State College has a moto of changing lives. They are 100 percent true to that statement as I have only been here for a small number of weeks, my life is already improved. The small class sizes makes the environment outstandingly comforting as an incoming freshman. This school does not fail to make you feel cared for and taken care of. This is the type of school where teachers remember your name after the first day and say hello in the hallways. Freshman: I would recommend TMCC to my fellow Native Americans students, because of the amazing opportunities it gives to there people. If you are struggling on your culture and trying to find more ways to learn more about the history of Native Americans this would be a great school to choose. They offer all kinds of extracurricular activities if you are into sports, science, cooking, business and pretty much anything you can think of they most likely have it. Junior: Trinity Bible College and Graduate School is an oasis in the middle of a small town. One word that always comes to mind when I think of TBC is 'family'.
