Freshman: The rooms are really nice with a decent amount of variety, while the recreational areas are able to build community, but are, usually, non-invasive. The dining options are nice, although some items are definitely overpriced, and cheap food alternatives to things like fries and panda aren't exactly in great supply, wishing there was more alternatives in that regard. The professors seem qualified, likeable, presentable, respectable, and communicative in discussing grades and classwork. The school is proud of its history, but isn't misrepresentative of the time. Respectful to communities coming into central, but not overtly political. The incorporation into the city is really appreciated too. The public transport could be more intuitive, aswell as generally being able to get around, although that can also be put onto the city. Senior: Hello All, I am a student at the University of Washington's Seattle's Foster School of Business. The school of business has its own separate departments from UW, and I'm sure other major options are the same. For example, Foster has its own career center and there is a University-wide career center. All the resources can be overwhelming for students, so I recommend clarifying which department a resource came from. I think the required classes are great and the major options are fantastic. The libraries are phenomenal and useful. There are always activities and events. However, because of its location and events, the UW does attract a lot of tourists, I would recommend avoiding the Quad and Red Square during Cherry Blossom Season. Although Suzzalo is the most well-known library, it also attracts the most tourists, and it's hard to study while people are having a photo shoot, the Allen library is a better place to have an uninterrupted study session. Niche User: I took an online math class at Lower Columbia College for college in the high school credits. The teacher was incredibly helpful and kind. The students worked hard and created a comfortable community. During the class, I was able to learn hands-on math skills as well as participate in a close-knit community. I have been on campus and it is a relatively nice area! The only critique I have is that the teacher did not grade very quickly and I would have to wait for important grades until the class ended. The class was scheduled for Monday and Friday but did not have a Zoom meeting which was incredibly convenient. The course was 'do it at your own pace'. The cost of attending Lower Columbia College is somewhat affordable and my school covered the cost of credits. I hope to tour the campus more to see if Lower Columbia College would be a viable option for me. I spoke to other students and they seem to enjoy the class too! Graduate Student: My overall experience with Spokane Community College has been a very positive one. I would like to share with others how Spokane Community College has been an amazing place for me to start my new beginning in life. Freshman: Overall, my experience at YVC has been great! The professors are kind and understanding. They care about you as person, and they put you before school or anything else. It really feels like a community here. There's so much diversity at the school and it's wonderful to see. You'll be able to meet people of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, etc. Although COVID has made things difficult with being online or halfway in person, you don't get the same experience. The campus also has free tutoring, a there's always someone you can talk to or go to, to get help or ask questions. Sometimes it's hard to talk with the YVC main offices, and the communication isn't always great. However, in the long run, they help you figure out whatever you need, you may just need a little bit of patience with them. Graduate Student: My Skagit Valley College as a Running Start student was overall a good experience. I had many great professors, who always emphasized the fact that we’re willing to help us all. They were very kind and considerate. My PE professor even helped me on my graduation application process! My college counselor was less than helpful, but thankfully my Education and PE professors stepped in. The programs and diversity was great. My only complaint would be my college counselor, she would reply to my emails very late, sometimes months later. Sophomore: Lower Columbia is a great place to start college in a relaxed, but stimulating environment. I think the biggest draw for me has been the friendly, small-town atmosphere. The instructors challenge you to do your best, but also do their best to help you succeed. I am pursuing an AA in music and I may be a little biased, but I think the music instructors at LCC are the best! I have also had many good Gen Ed instructors, probably the most memorable being the math instructor from my first quarter. If you ever take her class, you will know what I mean. It was challenging and fun: from music playing before class, to the class work itself, to her great sense of humor and love of teaching.
