Freshman: It is a catholic school, but they won’t force you to partake in any of the catholic traditions of you’re not comfortable. The school is guarded very well and very safe you have to have your id to enter the building and the dorms so it’s not welcome to strangers and it is surrounded by a gate. The food is delicious and they provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lastly, the people here are very nice and welcoming makes you feel like you belong. Highly overall I recommend coming here!... Sophomore: Houston Christian University has been such a treasure! The proffesors are top class and do not just teach but make an effort to make sure thier students understand the topic. I have witnessed countless HCU Proffesor time and time again making an effort to make sure that they aid students who might struggling in the curriculum. The student life is exceptional since in Houston there is so much to explore woth all the different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. That brings me to my joy about Houston Christian University; thier rich diversity. I have personally heard other students saying that they wanted to transfer to a school that was more diverse and therefore, they chose HCU. Most importantly, I love the way this college as a whole makes sure to point the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The most important and crucial topic needed to be heard in our campuses. Senior: Overall, my experience with the University of Houston has been vey wonderful. The staff at the student center are very helpful. One time one of the staff members walked me all the way to the building where my class is being held at. The professors at the University of Houston are very helpful as well, considering that they have 50-100 students in their class. The University of Houston made me feel right at home the first time I showed up for orientation. One thing I would change about the University of Houston would be their parking permit. Other: I think San Jacinto College is great! It's a helpful and cost-effective way to get your basics done and out of the way while not having to pay the considerably higher price tags that 4-year universities like to put on their introductory classes. The teachers and students I've met are all very nice, the campus isn't that bad looking and the fries in the student cafe are heavenly. My favorite parts are when the clubs or the school itself hold festivals and such. I've received a custom-made license plate, flowers, and even ice cream for free at them! Overall I'm very satisfied with my San Jac experience and would recommend it to anyone who may not want to pay the 4-year universities their high price for basics that can be done at San Jac.... Freshman: I absolutely love the environment! All students are very friendly and the educators are amazing! The school has events constantly going on and there is always something for everyone to do. My personal favorite events are at the Wellness and Success Center where you are encouraged to participate in fitness events with other students and there is also many activities to participate in, such as yoga, dancing, etc. The campus is located in Downtown Houston with amazing views of the city and the colleges and main building are very near each other. DEFEAT every monster you have under your bed and maintain motivation to be the better version of yourself. CHCP, from instructors to your fellow classmates, offer encouragement and guidance. I receive calls from the wonderful staff at CHCP just checking in to see if I need additional support. There are so many resources and opportunities here. Sophomore: Lee College is a cheap and easy way to get a college education. For the price, you get a pretty good education. Professors are there to help you, they understand when situations occur and are willing to work with you. Email and keep in contact with your professors! It's a well known community college for a reason. The professors are good at what they do, some are less communicative or involved than others. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because some classes are very straightforward and don't need lots of involvement. Every professor I've had is willing to work with you, keeps in contact, and responds to emails within a day. The courses have the same rigor as other colleges and even some universities. Sophomore: I liked being in ACC. They give a lot of merit-based scholarships. The campus student life is more like a small town. (You will encounter people you’ve met before in your classes again in other classes. That way you can develop friends easily and have some commonality. Most people are generally very friendly. ACC offers tutoring services and writing help for those who need it (all for free of course). ACC also allows students to work at student jobs for about $10/h. Graduate Student: I was a student athlete at Galveston College and I attended college for two years at Galveston. I enjoyed it and living there was different from my hometown! Though Galveston may not be the safest and with Covid-19, the town would be very busy at times, it was still a great school. There was only softball and baseball at the college and the softball team did not have near as much as the baseball team did. Girl sports were very underrated and limited to many things. Athletes do live in new updated apartments that are nice and clean! The professors and staff at the college are welcoming and helpful of others.
