Junior: Gannon has a lot of great staff/faculty members and opportunities that are made available to virtually everybody on campus. There are lots of sport teams, clubs, and groups that are easy to join and exciting. Every teacher that I have had has been competent, not always enjoyable, but at bare minimum, able to educate their students. My main problem with the school is just how expensive it is. I want to be able to go to school full time, and still have enough money to enjoy my hobbies like fishing, jiu jitsu, hiking, playing instruments, making music, and travelling. Junior: PennWest Edinboro has an absolutely amazing graphic design program. The professors are kind and knowledgeable and are truly dedicated to helping you grow as a graphic designer. I transferred here in the Fall of 2022, and so far my experience with my professors has been great. However, the administration at Edinboro leaves a lot to be desired. As a transfer student I was hoping to have some resources given to me to make my transition easier. This was not the case. No one from the transfer department has reached out to help me. This is especially frustrating, as I did not have a smooth move from community college to Edinboro. I am still struggling to sort out credit issues! The only helpful person thus far in administration has been the chair of the art department. The PennWest merger has also brought challenges to Edinboro that have not been adequately addressed. Senior: PSU-Erie is a wonderful school physically and community-wise. The school is just outside of the city and hidden by a plethora of trees and greenery. The plants and trees are well-maintained throughout the year. There is a lot of history at the school which can be seen in some of its paths and older buildings. The school is dedicated to student safety, mental health and success. It is always changing its buildings, activities and courses based off of what their students and families are suggesting. That in itself makes the school a 5/5 . My only issue with having gone to this school is that meal plans were very expensive and did not supply a proper amount of food for student sustenance. I am hoping this is something the school looks into and changes in the coming years. Be sure to tour your residents halls before accepting one! Alum: The campus is beautiful, and the dorms and classrooms are nice. The teachers in the math department are very difficult and it seems as if most non-math majors take their math requirements elsewhere or online. Even the advisors tell students not to even attempt calc at our school. The biology department does great research and has many opportunities if you would like to get involved, but it seems as if funding will continue to be cut for these programs, so who knows how long these opportunities will be readily available. The biology program is amazing if you are looking for human based biology, but any environmental biology or related subjects I would 100% recommend looking elsewhere. My partner ended up in their environmental science program and it looked super cool from the outside, but when it came to scheduling classes, he struggled to keep even a full-time schedule because most of the classes listed were not actually offered.... Graduate Student: I went to Great Lakes institute of technology and graduated from two different programs! The first program I went through and graduated was for the Medical Assistant program. The program was very educational and set at a good pace to learn the skills needed to be a Medical Assistant. My instructors were super helpful and took their time with each student. I graduated April 2019 and went back July 2019 for the Practical Nursing program! The program was alot more fast paced but a challenge I was willing to accept! during my clinical portion of the nursing program the Covid-19 pandemic hit. The school, staff, and students took on this challenge and we adapted. Many times I wanted to quit but everyone at the school was supportive and we all got through it together. I graduated from the Practical Nursing program September 2020. If the school in the future offers a program that would help further my career I told all the staff there I would be back!Loved the school and forever grateful.... Read 104 reviews
