Senior: I have loved my experience at Oregon Tech. All the professors are truly there to help you succeed in any way they can. They are very approachable. There are also a lot of resources on campus (Ex: mental health, pantry, tutoring). This is at their smaller campus so I'm sure that they would have even more ways of helping out at their Klamath Falls campus (main campus). The only thing that I would like to be different here is when and how often they offer classes, but its also understandable that they do it based on how many students are there to take the class. Senior: I am one term away from finishing my Criminal Justice Degree at Portland State University. I had a really good experience on campus and with the whole criminology program overall. I took many other criminology classes in addition to the required classes and they were all excellent. My favorite instructor was Jason Jones. What a valuable asset to PSU! What I liked the most about the criminology program at PSU was the fact that most of my instructors were actively working in law enforcement, so they are able to tell us what was going on in the Portland area presently and during the Covid pandemic era. I think the biggest thing I would like to see changed is tuition prices. Wow! Does it really need to cost that much to improve your life and contribute to the betterment of society? Other: Currently I am enrolled for the winter term that begins Jan 8th. Im a 40yr old female, starting over “in life” and am grateful for the opportunity to broaden my education. For the past 19 years I’ve made a living as a bartender and thoroughly enjoyed the work up until 2021 and facing a traumatic encounter. The resources available as well as my initial enrollment and class registration was a process with probability of increasing my anxiety and panic. Thankfully the staff and advisors of UCC have been extremely helpful in guiding me along the way, being that everything is completed via portals and web based nowadays. A far cry from the more hands on and face to face interactions I am familiar with from my previous time spent at UCC approximately 20 years ago!! Not that I’m immune to change or technology, but my tendency to unintentionally over analyze and over worry about executing tasks correctly and efficiently has proven to be discouraging. Sophomore: It was pretty great. For being a small community college, they offered many different types of courses, and every instructor I've had in my classes so far have been really helpful and kind. I never had any issues with any classes and always found support when I needed it. The classes themselves were very rewarding. I always left a class feeling like I really learned something. Moreover, the facilities here are modern, easy to get around, and overall just very clean and pleasant. The only issues I really had with attending this school was its website. It's slightly outdated, and trying to find certain information can be difficult at times. Some links just don't work, and some pages regarding student information, such as student finances or scholarships, barely have any information on them. They look uncompleted, but they still have them on their website as if they're resources that can be used by students. Still, overall, the experience attending this school has been great.... Sophomore: Portland Community College has such wonderful professors that really care about their students. Professors were kind, accommodating, and willing to listen to their students. Other: KCC is the greatest and only good college I've attended. I joined the GED program there in March of 2020. I passed my Math GED exam on May 26, 2023, and will graduate this month. The KCET staff were consistently supportive, encouraging, positive and provided help anytime I needed it. I was always encouraged with positive feedback, advice, guidance, and was always made to truly believe my success mattered to every one of those who were involved in the program. I suffer from Dyscalculia, which severely impedes my ability to comprehend, study, retain and learn math. The KCET staff constantly encouraged me to receive tutoring from their on-campus tutors. The tutors were professional, kind, patient, and non-judgmental. They supported me during my bad days and showed understanding each time it was evident I was struggling with a concept. Alum: I absolutely loved my experience at Central Oregon Community College. The faculty is incredible and the tuition is some of the lowest in the state, which is incredibly helpful because Bend's cost of living is quite high. I graduated with an Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree, which was readily accepted at Oregon State University when I applied as a transfer student. My favorite professors were Christopher Hazlett and Fleur Prade, who both had unique personalities that they wove into their instruction. Though my personal review of the college is 5 out of 5 stars, I have concerns with the overall ADA accessibility of the campus. Classes in Grandview and Ochoco Hall are extremely difficult to reach for those with mobility limitations. Senior: Overall my experience at Southern Oregon University was successful. I, along with many other students who attend Southern Oregon University was a transfer student. I really enjoyed the small-town mountain vibes, but it was very hard to adjust. Once you come to terms with the fact that this is not the typical state school and college environment, it starts to get better. My faculty and professors have always been very kind and respectful, not just me, but to everyone in my classes. The school has some administrative issues that often get in the way of students being successful. This school really has the opportunity to be something special and is gaining popularity quickly. Alum: I graduated from RCC in 2018, with an associates in psychology and an associates in business. During my time there, I was the Diversity Coordinator in student government, the President of the Rainbow Club, and I worked in both the student services office and the library. Overall, I had an amazing experience. The professors were knowledgeable, the classes were engaging, and the advisors were incredibly helpful. I even met my husband at RCC! Sophomore: Warm and accepting community. Campus is always hosting community events and activities, and the entire environment is very friendly-neighborhood-esque. The arts programs' and trade programs' instructors really know their stuff! The professors and classrooms are all very professional and high-standards, though some of the facilities are smaller due to the community nature of the college.
