Sophomore: Unfortunately in the short term of attending GateWay Community College for one semester in the Evening Nursing Program, I had very little time to grasp all of what the college had to offer throughout the day, due to working night shifts and living 30 minutes away. Though a couple of things I enjoyed how well organize the campus was. Maps are provided and if that was not enough, staff was always more than willing to give easy directions to where you needed to be. Campus was always clean and quiet, no distractions out of the norm. One thing I would like to see change is the availability of library hours, due to needing educational resources such as books, private study rooms, etc. before attending class at 6PM.... Sophomore: After two semesters at PC I can say that I am EXTREMELY happy about choosing this community college as my reentrance into college life as an "adult learner". After a hiatus from school due to health and financial reasons, it took the pandemic to put things into perspective and remind me of what I truly value and enjoy in life: my education. Since enrolling at PC I've found real personal and professional success and have been pleasantly surprised at how many resources the college makes available to it's student body, the extracurriculars and community involvement opportunities (I, myself, have participated in PC's business club, Model UN, the region's #1 PTK honors society, DEI facilitator training, flexible work opportunities, and choir!) and an incredibly knowledgeable staff that is earnestly interested in preparing us for success in the next steps in our careers- whether that be getting certifications, associate degree, or transferring to a fantastic university. Sophomore: PVCC is a great school to start your college journey. The classes are affordable, the campus is easy to navigate, and the professors are usually pretty great. When deciding on a degree path, the advisors are excellent at helping you get on track. My last two semesters there were a bit confusing and I was having difficulty figuring out what classes I needed to sign up for so that I could properly transfer my credits to the graduate school I chose. My academic advisor was thorough and replied to my messages quickly. He made sure I was on the right track and everything has gone through correctly. The counseling office was also helpful. Classes and home life tend to be stressful for me, but having access to professionals in counseling that I could meet with for free was a blessing to me. I felt assured by them and my professors were accommodating when I talked to them about it. Niche User: I've loved my experience at EAC! The classes are small and the teachers are kind, so you feel like you're getting a very personalized experience. I'm a language major there, and I've always felt welcomed by the rest of the language department. The professors are understanding and excellent at keeping a manageable workload. Furthermore, their tutoring center is one of the best I've seen. There's free tutoring available in almost every subject, and the tutors are available whenever it's most convenient for students. Sophomore: My experience at NAU has been a dream. All of my professors this past year were hard-working and gave their all when it came to their students. I always felt supported by the university through their facilities and programs such as Peer Jacks, free math tutoring, and even the courses such as First Year Seminar, which was the perfect introduction into a new place with new people. With every college there are some downsides however. I found that considering the amount of undergraduates at the university, the lack of staffing for counselors made it almost impossible to be seen. In order to get a meeting with my counselor about upcoming class registration, I have to book an appointment months in advance in order to get ahead of their busy schedule. I think this small thing could be fixed with just adding some people in that department in order to accommodate for the university enrollment. Freshman: I've had friends take online classes before, but none of their schools compares to Yavapai College in Prescott Arizona. Not only are the teachers amazing and really give you that one on one time to ask questions and actually learn things, but they also provide you with a laptop and hotspot in case you don't have your own. Financial aid is on top of everything, making sure that you get everything filled out and submitted on time to get grants and scholarships. All of the student advisors I've had have been really helpful in helping me to decide which classes to take so that I wasn't overwhelmed and would have the time to do my best in each one. Freshman: Enrolling and applying for Cochise College was extremely easy with plenty of people available for questions and help. The entire staff I had interreacted with made enrolling and understanding things like finances and tuition much more approachable and smooth to go through, espeically while requesting disability accommodations. Planning and holding meetings were quick and very efficient to get what I needed with little to no hassle. I really appreciated how approachable they made each task instead of surrounding the whole process of enrollment and figuring out my tuition with even more dread. I have not started classes yet so I cannot speak on my actual experience with that yet, but every before school task I had to complete as a college freshman was easily glided through. Alum: My experience at Chandler-Gilbert Community College was an amazing one. I don’t even know where to begin! I took so many different courses and learned exactly what I needed to and more. My journey of earning my Associates degree in Arts and my Associates in Science degree was filled with so much joy and I met so many incredible people along the way. There was never a boring day on the campus. The instructors are amazing, there are so many nice and kind students, and I’m so grateful for all of the friendships that I have made. Sophomore: It was very good. I took live online classes because it was in COVID times, but it was still good given the circumstances and the affordability of it. I was happy with it, and basically the only things I would improve would be to make sure the students are understanding and don't have questions before moving on and on from lesson to lesson. I experienced this in my math class. I had straight A's in all of my classes--except for math class. This happened both semesters of the year I did college online in COVID times. The professors at this school were all quite good, I was happy with them. Most of them were very competent and good at explaining and teaching, and even the few that weren't seemed to care a lot about the well-being of the students, and be sympathetic to our situation with all the COVID online weirdness going on. Graduate Student: The campus is clean and very easy to navigate through. All my teachers were very understanding and kept the communication very clear and open. I feel blessed to have had not only great teachers but a nice well kept college close to home. From the FinAid to registration personnel all Departments were accommodating and courteous! Junior: I love ASU! The polytechnic campus is smaller so its easier and faster to get from one classroom to the next. I absolutely loved my professors! They all feel like they actually care about our education and our concerns. I'm learning the material and when I have questions, I'm not afraid to ask the professor. I love all the events that happen on campus, especially the free food! My favorite place is the library! I can go there when I need some peace and quiet and the librarians always have book suggestions that actually help me. I can put my headphones on and relax on the couches and study for my classes. Freshman: For my first semester doing online classes was a neat experience. Both instructors were on top with communication if you needed help understanding the assignments or having difficulties with it or even needing an extension for technical reasons that one could be struggling. The fact that they have student services where one can take opportunity to use whether it's getting help with essays or math by tutors or using their online tutoring services for free which makes it stress free. Also services to assist in how to find scholarships and learn how to write scholarship essays too. Everyone there is helpful and courteous which helps calm any anxiety and can answer any questions you may have about enrollment, financial aid and such. Junior: CCC is a great school for new and transfer students! They offer much more affordable course costs whether you are classified as an in district/ out-of-district/ out of state student. This is comparing to our next door neighbors, Northern Arizona Uni. When it came to taking general education courses, CCC made it much more affordable to earn credits that WILL transfer over to a 4 year university. The community of staff/ employees assisted me in making sure the courses I took will transfer over to Northern AZ Uni. This led to my time not being wasted on courses that wont transfer over. The amount of resources available made it very easy to stay on top of my courses and exams throughout my semesters.
