Freshman: I study both Graphic Design and Digital Media Production at Western Tech, and I am having a good time so far. The classes are very comprehensive, and focus on developing your technical practices, skills, and career readiness. There is plenty of support options for anybody struggling in just about any way. They have tutors, learning commons, food resources, clothing resources, counseling, disability resources, etc. Western Technical College really cares about its students. Perhaps my favorite thing about this school is that, with it being a technical college, all of the professors are required to have practiced, or currently be practicing in, the field of which they teach, and they have to take steps to keep up with the fields too, so that they are always teaching the most relevant information with first hand experience of what knowledge and skills are needed in the field. Freshman: Studying at NWTC is different from a traditional university. Most of the courses I am enrolled in are directly related to my future career field. NWTC is very concise in their educational practices and opportunities. There has not been a time yet where I had to ask myself, "how will I use this in my future career?" The professors are very accommodating, and it is evident that they want to see their students be successful, but not without putting in the proper time and effort. Senior: I have enjoyed attending Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin via online course education. The option to complete my courses online was an extraordinary opportunity which made it possible for me to follow through with furthering my education. My Professors were amazing! Freshman: My freshman year at Concordia University has been an amazing one and I am so glad that I chose to attend. Throughout the entire year I felt engaged on campus with all of the various on-campus activities, clubs, and athletics I could be involved in. Freshman: I am currently taking the EMS program along with a forensic science class through FVTC, and I enjoy it very much! While my classes are at the Public Safety Training Center, I am frequently on the main Appleton campus, and it is an amazing place. The culture and friendliness from the staff and students is welcoming and they will go out of their way to help you. The food on campus is pretty nice as well. They do something neat at the main campus for lunches, where the culinary students prepare meals for the students. As for the public safety building, it's also very nice and honestly, I feel everyone there is even nicer because you all have a common theme in your degree programs. The instructors are amazing, very funny and helpful, and have great teaching styles. The town behind the building also helps you to experience real life situations without being in the real world. Sophomore: Starting out I had no clue what I was doing. All staff was very nice, considerate and very patient. Sophomore: Bryant and Stratton is a very good backup school, or somewhere you should look into it if you are looking to get back on track with your education. I had previously attended a 4 year before this, and to be at BSC and see how much more engaged the professors are and how they can cater to you as a person, and not a number was so refreshing! Another thing that stands out is the diversity. Being near the Milwaukee and Racine area, you will see lots of different people with different experiences and backgrounds. Being able to experience that from an educational standpoint, has done wonders for me and my ability to grow! One thing I would change is the on campus living. I actually stayed off campus, so this is a secondary source, but from the conversations I had with teammates and other classmates the living situation was very difficult. Junior: I have a few credits to finish up for my associate degree. So far my experiences have been very positive. The Registered Nurse Program at MATC has been what I expected. I’m sure that the networking courses get into more intense material, but networking isn’t my favorite thing. The Support program does make me want to continue my education in nursing. I think that’s a positive. When I started back at MATC, it was difficult because I’d been out of school for something like 13 years. I didn’t know exactly what to expect or how I would adapt to classes again. I can’t think of anything that would have helped me first. It was definitely time to get back in school and it has worked out well. The only change I would make to the MATC program would be scheduling, There were plenty of courses that I wanted to take in class rather than online but the scheduling wasn’t available. Alum: I was a music major at Carroll and I was pretty happy with the opportunities I had to perform and grow as a musician. Especially considering the fact that the University is largely focused on the DPT and Nursing programs. That being said, the music facilities could use some upgrades. A few renovations have taken place since I graduated, but the building itself is very old and needs some work. One of the biggest frustrations was the amount of times the music building is used for science lectures or other activities, when they just completed building 2 beautiful science buildings within the past couple of years. Alum: I graduated from GTC in 2010 with my associate's degree. The advisors when going in to finish my pre-reqs did not properly put me in appropriate classes based on my ACT scores so I had to test out on some once I realized I was placed wrong and lost out on that money as it was too late for a full refund at that point even though it was their error. I did not appreciate the closed mindedness of one of the psych instructors and did fail their class as our personalities did not work out and he clearly did not appreciate my input. Once in my program though, my teachers were FANTASTIC!
