Sophomore: I absolutely love UTHSCSA! I am a full time Nursing student there and my experience thus far has been wonderful! The campus itself took some adjustments because it is a huge campus! The professors are incredible, they are all passionate about the students they teach. For my personally that is what makes the school so amazing, is the professors. Junior: I enjoy going to school here. All fields of nursing are having trouble finding staff right now and academia is not exempt from that. Our instructors seem like they are spread a little thin sometimes, but they are phenomenal nurses. Each of them brings something a little different to the table, which I appreciate. All nursing programs are taught by NURSES… and while most are great at their profession, they might not be the most organized TEACHERS. But that’s just part of the deal with nursing school. Its important in any nursing program to work hard and take responsibility for your own education, because your instructors don’t spoon feed you. The self-motivation and discipline you learn here is what makes great nurses. The reviews stating this school does not offer tutoring are correct, but there’s a strong sense of community within your cohort. There is only one student led group on campus & they’re pretty small. Graduate Student: I had a pretty good experience here! There were some teachers within the nursing program who acted like they didn’t care, but there were far more who did! They helped motivate me and even talked me off the ledge when I was thinking about quitting! In my Final semester, I didn’t have any financial aid to pay my tuition, but with the help of my advisor and financial aid, which one of my instructors told me to do, I was able to find and apply for a scholarship and finish my degree! Graduate Student: I was a student athlete at Galveston College and I attended college for two years at Galveston. I enjoyed it and living there was different from my hometown! Though Galveston may not be the safest and with Covid-19, the town would be very busy at times, it was still a great school. There was only softball and baseball at the college and the softball team did not have near as much as the baseball team did. Girl sports were very underrated and limited to many things. Athletes do live in new updated apartments that are nice and clean! The professors and staff at the college are welcoming and helpful of others. I went for one year and increasingly struggled over time, eventually dropping out. Freshman: My experience here at East Texas Baptist University has been distinguished compared to my high school experience. Niche User: I currently take dual credit classes and I went there recently to tour the campus. While the campus was well taken care of, It wasn't in the best area, but they have a 24-hour on-campus police and security section. The people there were very nice and helpful I got to speak to an admissions counselor and a finical aid advisor. The faculty was very friendly and they have lots of great resources to make sure that you thrive at the college, they have multiple free tutoring resources available online and in person. They have tons of options for your degree and they even have trade schools! Something that I noticed while taking their dual credit class is that the teachers are very helpful and willing to take time and help you, they respond to emails and texts really fast and it just seems like they actually want to succeed not just pass.
