Alum: Washburn feels like home to me. It is an amazing place to learn in small class settings and has a lively community of students of all ages and backgrounds. It is extremely affordable compared to other universities in the state and has some beautiful new additions to campus since I graduated. I was able to have a 1-on-1 relationship with all of my professors and that helped me better comprehend the materials I was being taught and made learning fun and easy, especially knowing I always had help if needed. The campus is picturesque and the living spaces are comfortable and inviting. Plus, they just added a new merit scholarship grid that is based solely on your high school GPA, so you can get a big scholarship right off the bat just for applying! I wish they had that when I attended, although I still paid off my education less than a year after graduating! It's a first-class education at an affordable rate and I can't recommend enough.... Junior: I enjoyed the college, it has a great environment with great teachers who will work with you if you are honest and open with them. I was terribly sick one semester and my teacher went out of his way to make sure I knew I was not gonna fail and that he'd catch me up if need be. He studied for hours after class with me, and I did end up passing! The counselors are wonderful people, very fun to stop and chit chat with when you're feeling bored of class. The library is a wonderful place to study, and make new study buddy partners, and the kitchen has absolutely amazing food, you've got to try it. You can start college programs through WSU Tech as early as your Sophomore year in high school. I started my Sophomore year and graduated from the IT program my Senior year. Freshman: My experience in Garden City Community College has been great. I love the teachers and the program they have here. They take care of you and talk to make sure you are not struggling. This school has so much to provide to student who don't have a lot of money to afford going to college. They help you find scholarships or help with financial aid. Freshman: Wichita State University is a great start for someone who is looking for a college and lives around the Wichita area. I grew up in Wichita and have always had a hard time fitting in. But at Wichita State University, I feel like there are many places where I could connect with others who share similar interests. I plan to finish my degree with Wichita State University and look for more opportunities that are made easily accessible by the university. However, my problem with WSU is the surrounding area and it does not have many sports. WSU feels limited in the freedom of students because Wichita surrounds it. This makes it harder to experience "college life", especially when I have grown up here. Graduate Student: I think the social aspect of Cowley is amazing, and executed almost perfectly. Cowley is only a community college and not as big as other colleges, and definitely not as big as universities around it. BUT I will say that given that it is a smaller school, Cowley treats its students lavishly. Sophomore: Ive been a student at Barton County Community College on and off for the past handful of years, and am currently a full time student in the Paramedic Program. BCCC has always being incredibly accommodating to me as a student. Particularly, the financial aid department has gone above and beyond to help me make sure everything financial is in order. Especially notable is one of the financial aid ladies bending over backwards, when I lost track of a particular scholarship, in order to make sure I had the help and coverage I needed. Sophomore: My first year at Butler was amazing! I met two of my bestest friends on only the first day of school! The teachers are also great. My public speaking class, which I was nervous for, turned out to be my favorite class of my whole first year! My biology professor made everything easy to understand and related the topics to our lives so we would better understand. I was also lucky enough to have the same teacher for two different classes which was really helpful since I already knew how she ran everything. Freshman: I like that it is a quarterly school because I can get my degree on a quicker timeline! I wish it was more cost efficient, but the faculty is great about being helpful and working with everyone to achieve their goals. I have enjoyed all of my professors so far because they’re willing to stay up late and/or offer additional resources to make sure that you understand what’s being taught in class so that you succeed.
