Freshman: Flexibility is probably one of my favorite perks to being at Southeast Tech. The amount of options I have regarding the days and times of classes makes scheduling around certain time frames practical (particularly when I have other commitments). Southeast Tech gives you control over the direction you take your college education which means you have a say in what you make of your classes. Not everybody fits the standard mold of what a college student is and that is what I love about it! If there is anything I have learned while being in college, it is my purpose as a student. I have come to understand how much I am able to accomplish. I have come to realize that I really do love going to school. I look forward to learning something new everyday. I have come to realize that I am not going to college for others. I am going to college for myself. I am going to learn my passion and I am enjoying every bit of it. I am making the most of it. Sophomore: Augustana has been a great match for me, and I love the communication and accessibility to different resources around campus. Professors are very reachable and office hours can be altered to fit your personal schedule. Campus has varying events nearly every night, which provides great resources for connecting with classmates and forming lasting friendships. In addition, the International program for exchange/international students is impeccable, and does incredible outreach to ensure every international student can find belonging. Augustana has great advocacy for mental health, and acknowledges and accepts the stress and anxiety that can come with adjusting to college life. On top of mental health resources, free tutoring and the writing center gives every student the opportunity to succeed, regardless of financial situation. Freshman: I just finished my Fall Semester as a Freshman. This was hard at first but it wasn't so bad once you adjust to everything. The food in the cafeteria can be good but at the same time I would rather make my own food sometimes. The dorms can be nice but at the same time some are out dated but they are still nice to live in. If you want a roommate, make sure you know the person or just get your own room.. Classes can get hard but once you adjust what kind of studying you do you will do great.The people here are nice and are here to help you when you have questions. They to have a J-term where you get a free credit the whole month of January. You don't have to worry about this credit in the spring or your future classes.. Sophomore: Avera McKennan hospital is a great Hospital, arguably the best in the region. In the School of Radiologic Technology, the campus is right at the hospital, and you have a lot of opportunities to see many different modalities in different settings, including ER, surgery, ortho, clinics. The professors are very knowledgeable, and kind, upbeat people. You know that they really want you to succeed, in school and in life in general.
