Freshman: MCPHS is my first step into applying for medical school. The school gives great opportunities to students who are looking to go into the medical field. My experience at this school is great! What I like about this college is that the professors engage with students individually to help them succeed. The college has many different departments that can help you with any need when applying for a job, doing an internship, or wanting to change majors. Sophomore: After High School I was looking for a good affordable college to attend in my area and I did some research and came across Roxbury Community College, I heard some great things about the school but I wanted to check it out and experience it myself and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life. Alum: I went to Regis undergrad nursing and graduated 5.5 years ago. I had lived in campus and had a wonderful time. It is a small college but that appealed to me because I didn’t want to be in a lecture hall with 400 other people. My biggest class size was about 35 people and it was a lecture course. There was a pretty good array of extra curricular activities for those like Me that don’t do sports. I enjoyed campus ministry and in my freshman year, I was a part of the theatre troupe and put on the play Godspell. I do wish there had been more plays or musicals during my time. The biggest problem during my time there was the food. The dining hall struggled to provide good nutrition but by my senior year they had hired a new company and were making good strives to fix it. There was also a Dunkin’ on campus which was awesome and then the LSU had a grill and premade meals. Alum: Great school, but it was very difficult; so many people dropped out after the first few months. But, if you’re having difficulties or get stuck in any of your subjects there are people there to help you. I learned a lot! The only con I had was that there are not many women in the program, but sadly that’s common in the engineering field. I was able to get a great job, great pay and now I’m headed to grad school funded by my job’s higher education enrichment program. My advice is to go for it and DO NOT give up, it’s worth it! Alum: I was a dual enrollment student at MCC for almost three years. I studied only virtually for my degree. It was a great experience. The staff and faculty in general were super helpful and supportive of the students. Something that could be improved is with the online classes, there’s really not much chance to get engaged with the MCC community. It’s hard to hear about new events and activities going on unless you somehow have a very close relationship with your professor. If you do happen to hear about events , programs, etc and get involved in other activities, it’s a very great learning experience and a chance to build your network. So my only suggestion for future students is if you do happen to take online courses, make sure you constantly ask classmates and professors about different opportunities available that you may be interested in. Freshman: MassBay was the first school I'd attended after dropping out of high school for physical & mental health reasons. I was nervous at first, as I was used to schools overlooking my needs, or making classes inaccessible by default (e.g., in high school, my disabling fatigue meant that sometimes I couldn't attend class, and missing even one day was disastrous as it'd cause me to fall behind). This isn't the case at MassBay. My first in-person class was with Prof. Keegan, with whom I didn't even NEED to request accommodations, because he was so good about putting everything on Blackboard by default! I'm having a similarly positive experience with Prof. Bastien. MassBay's teachers are passionate about what they do, and I feel like they actually care about my success. Missing classes due to my health is no longer a "death sentence" for me. I'm not falling behind because of 1 missed day anymore! Junior: I really enjoy Fisher College because it is a small school with an engaging classroom experience. The whole school is feels like a community that helps each other out and is always supportive. The location of Fisher College is also great, located in the beautiful Back Bay of Boston with lots to do to keep students engaged not only in the classroom but also outside of the classroom. Freshman: I think the PASS is good, but should only be implemented once. There is no real food only vending. Better than nothing. Ubi Sim is ok, but not for real life circumstances. Every semester it seems you may have to fight to get a spot because of the registration process. It can be very frustrating and nerve racking. Financial Aid and Student Success is the best. The tutoring is wonderful, only once did a tutor not show for tutoring. School is clean for what we have. I like that students come from all backgrounds and degrees. More students should be able to accelerate not just LPN's. I think it is great that they are starting a surgical technology program as well. Sophomore: Lawrence memorial hospital school of Nursing has been a great experience thus far. The staff want everyone to succeed and put the students in a position and environment to do so. The clinical exposure was great and allowed everyone to be engaged in hands on learning. The lecture classroom teaching was relevant and applicable to clinical and SIM lab. We were able to apply knowledge from lectures within clinical and the exams. The improvements that would be nice to see are a little more of guidance in daily schedules and how to access our weekly upcoming due dates, it was very difficult to navigate the first few months though it did improve as time went on....
