Freshman: I am currently taking the EMS program along with a forensic science class through FVTC, and I enjoy it very much! While my classes are at the Public Safety Training Center, I am frequently on the main Appleton campus, and it is an amazing place. The culture and friendliness from the staff and students is welcoming and they will go out of their way to help you. The food on campus is pretty nice as well. They do something neat at the main campus for lunches, where the culinary students prepare meals for the students. As for the public safety building, it's also very nice and honestly, I feel everyone there is even nicer because you all have a common theme in your degree programs. The instructors are amazing, very funny and helpful, and have great teaching styles. The town behind the building also helps you to experience real life situations without being in the real world. Sophomore: Nicolet College campus offers a natural scenic view of the outdoors and a scholarly atmosphere. Freshman: I study both Graphic Design and Digital Media Production at Western Tech, and I am having a good time so far. The classes are very comprehensive, and focus on developing your technical practices, skills, and career readiness. There is plenty of support options for anybody struggling in just about any way. They have tutors, learning commons, food resources, clothing resources, counseling, disability resources, etc. Western Technical College really cares about its students. Perhaps my favorite thing about this school is that, with it being a technical college, all of the professors are required to have practiced, or currently be practicing in, the field of which they teach, and they have to take steps to keep up with the fields too, so that they are always teaching the most relevant information with first hand experience of what knowledge and skills are needed in the field. Sophomore: Starting out I had no clue what I was doing. All staff was very nice, considerate and very patient. The instructors actually care about your future instead of treating students like a paycheck. The other facility staff always go out of their way to help anyone in need from academic support to peroneal support, such as giving out eatable food or gas cards since we are a commuter college. High school seemed like a nightmare compared to being a college student at Waukesha Technical College. Senior: I have enjoyed attending Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin via online course education. The option to complete my courses online was an extraordinary opportunity which made it possible for me to follow through with furthering my education. My Professors were amazing! Although my courses were all online my Professors were all readily available, responded quickly to any questions I had arise & were extremely helpful as well as understanding & encouraging. While some may students may have the misconception that online classes are difficult & that this avenue of learning leaves you isolated with Professors who are disconnected, unreachable & uncaring... Freshman: So far my experience at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College has been very positive. I like the environment of the school, which everyone contributes to in some way. Every week there is time in everyone's day to mingle with other students whether that be in the game room or at an event in the common area. Junior: I have a few credits to finish up for my associate degree. So far my experiences have been very positive. The Registered Nurse Program at MATC has been what I expected. I’m sure that the networking courses get into more intense material, but networking isn’t my favorite thing. The Support program does make me want to continue my education in nursing. I think that’s a positive. When I started back at MATC, it was difficult because I’d been out of school for something like 13 years. I didn’t know exactly what to expect or how I would adapt to classes again. I can’t think of anything that would have helped me first. It was definitely time to get back in school and it has worked out well. The only change I would make to the MATC program would be scheduling, There were plenty of courses that I wanted to take in class rather than online but the scheduling wasn’t available. Alum: I graduated from GTC in 2010 with my associate's degree. The advisors when going in to finish my pre-reqs did not properly put me in appropriate classes based on my ACT scores so I had to test out on some once I realized I was placed wrong and lost out on that money as it was too late for a full refund at that point even though it was their error. I did not appreciate the closed mindedness of one of the psych instructors and did fail their class as our personalities did not work out and he clearly did not appreciate my input. Once in my program though, my teachers were FANTASTIC! The smaller classes made it easy for the instructors to pay attention to all students and be able to dedicate time to ensure all understood or got extra attention if needed when struggling.
