Graduate Student: I had a pretty good experience here! There were some teachers within the nursing program who acted like they didn’t care, but there were far more who did! They helped motivate me and even talked me off the ledge when I was thinking about quitting! In my Final semester, I didn’t have any financial aid to pay my tuition, but with the help of my advisor and financial aid, which one of my instructors told me to do, I was able to find and apply for a scholarship and finish my degree! I take loved the fact that I didn’t have to enroll myself in my classes also, so I never had to guess on what to take, even before I was in my program! They took great care of me. Niche User: I currently take dual credit classes and I went there recently to tour the campus. While the campus was well taken care of, It wasn't in the best area, but they have a 24-hour on-campus police and security section. The people there were very nice and helpful I got to speak to an admissions counselor and a finical aid advisor. The faculty was very friendly and they have lots of great resources to make sure that you thrive at the college, they have multiple free tutoring resources available online and in person. They have tons of options for your degree and they even have trade schools! Something that I noticed while taking their dual credit class is that the teachers are very helpful and willing to take time and help you, they respond to emails and texts really fast and it just seems like they actually want to succeed not just pass. Sophomore: Lee College is a cheap and easy way to get a college education. For the price, you get a pretty good education. Professors are there to help you, they understand when situations occur and are willing to work with you. Email and keep in contact with your professors! It's a well known community college for a reason. The professors are good at what they do, some are less communicative or involved than others. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because some classes are very straightforward and don't need lots of involvement. Every professor I've had is willing to work with you, keeps in contact, and responds to emails within a day. The courses have the same rigor as other colleges and even some universities. Sophomore: Collin College has been a great stepping stone for me. I have never felt so myself and confident because of how diverse Collin’s environment is. I enjoy going to school and feel that every professor and staff member there wants you to succeed. I really like how inclusive they make the school activities and how it’s free for everyone. I would like to see an even stricter security outside of the school. We do have security inside, but there is not a scanning component at the entrances so anyone is free to enter. Unfortunately, I wonder if that could come back to haunt us. The student council is really good at listening and understanding what is best for us students, so I do have hope that an open conversation could change the security system for the better. It's a helpful and cost-effective way to get your basics done and out of the way while not having to pay the considerably higher price tags that 4-year universities like to put on their introductory classes. The teachers and students I've met are all very nice, the campus isn't that bad looking and the fries in the student cafe are heavenly. My favorite parts are when the clubs or the school itself hold festivals and such. I've received a custom-made license plate, flowers, and even ice cream for free at them! Alum: I spent two semesters at Tarrant County College Northwest Campus to get my Associates of Science. My instructors were almost all excellent, very understanding, and helpful, with the exception of a single online course I took (it was essentially a weekly assigned reading and essay with minimal teacher interaction). There are abundant resources on campus for students, with tutoring and dedicated help centers separated by subject. The extracurriculars were also fun. I got involved in the school's math club, music club, and philosophy club (Pi club, NW Music Association, and Plato's cave). It being a community college, the clubs were relatively small (5-10 people), which made it feel much more personal. The campus also has a gym and pool that are free to use, which was VERY awesome. The cafeteria is a bit lacking, being a Subway and some vending machines, so definitely bring a lunch. Freshman: Navarro College provides many great opportunities for it's students. There are very diverse ranges of classes & professors. In my personal experience, my professors are always encouraging to ask questions and be open with them. This obviously makes my piers and I more comfortable and more open to learning constantly. They provide a sense of compassion that I have never experienced in my whole life when it comes to education. It makes me eager to push myself past my expectations and also break barriers. The campus is also beautiful. Being that it is a junior college it is smaller when compared to 4 year institutions but this takes nothing from it. All of my classes are within a few minutes of walking from my dorm, it is very easy to get from point A to point B. There are many places you can study and get help as well, there is always faculty members around campus and they are always eager to answer any questions that can help you.
