Graduate Student: I could say a multitude of wonderful things about Chattanooga State Community College, but if I had to choose one thing to share, it would be how amazing the staff is. Chatt State's staff goes above and beyond to ensure every student’s needs are met; whether physical, emotional, or mental. From the lunch ladies, janitors, and security team, to the ladies in the bursar's office, professors, and presidential staff. Because Chattanooga State is a two-year community college, I would like to see more opportunities for students to practice skills in the environment of their field/major. Other schools may have higher academic scores or even a more "exciting" athletic department, but no one else could possibly have a greater staff. These workers put everything into making sure students have all the tools they need to continue on to higher education or head straight into the workforce. What more could you ask for? Sophomore: I started at northeast state during my highschool senior year this was to gain dual enrollment. Then once I enrolled full-time on campus I was able to get the full college experience. The professors are wonderful and seem to have such a great way of understanding the students. I am currently on the Blountville campus and I can say that there is a bunch of diversity and community within everyone. I do not see a lot of drama within the campus and it is just overall a great community college to attend. I would recommend this college to anyone who is in need of getting their 2-year degree. The only thing about this community college I would change is the student engagement. Sophomore: The school shines in its outdoor activities allowing for a lot of new and exciting opportunities such as rock climbing, white water kayaking, caving, etc. Many of the professors have a passion and gift for teaching, encouraging students to take responsibility for their education. However, the food tends to be expensive without many options and has a subpar taste. Additionally, events such as Vespers or Convocation count towards mandatory worship credits. If these worship credits are not met the students can face heavy fees. The housing department of the school is abysmal and can take weeks to respond or not follow up at all. Sophomore: My college experience so far had been pretty good. Although I am not a very socially person, they help bring me out of my shell more. The advisors are so very sweet and help you figure out what you want to do in the future. The professors are very understanding even though it is college. Freshman: I moved from Traverse City, MI in order to attend this school for their surgical technology program. It has been a very seamless transition. The college staff are clear about what they require for applying and are quite helpful with solving problems. I love that the college starts their programs multiple times a year. Also the cost is amazingly lower than most other schools.
