Freshman: The University of Hawaii at Hilo was a great place where I was able to find my passion as a historian. The faculty is amazing. They were all very helpful while I tried different avenues of educational fields and were supportive. The University of Hawaii at Hilo is a small campus, that gives it the ability to be very hands on with a small student to teacher radio. Junior: This school incorporates a lot: educations, religion and culture and I love it all. It’s a great school where you feel safe while learning. There are people from all around the world so the diversity is incredible! They university has a rich history and culture that they incorporate in our learning. The class sizes are small and personal so I feel like the learning environment is a lot better because I can establish relationships with both the professors and the students that help me succeed. There is so much help given outside of class too, again helping us succeed in our studies. I would say because it’s a small campus too, it’s easy to know many people including your advisor. Our advisors care about us and do so much for us. My advisor has met with me several times and helps me stay on course for graduation and every time I meet with her I feel heard and valued. Freshman: Aloha, My name is Ashlyn Grace Balanay and I am currently an undergraduate student at Hawaii Pacific University (HPU). First off, HPU is a beautiful and gorgeous place that is right next to the water. Including the Aloha Tower that always have beautiful lights that turn on at night. In addition, there are plenty of restaurants, food markets, and a grocery market. Most importantly, the fun part is that we have an esports arena; where you can play games to distress and have some fun. We have a lot of seating areas for you study and socialize with friends; and if sitting outside isn’t for you, you can walk into the learning commons or library for to study. You can always make reservations for yourself or a group of friends you want to study with. Here at HPU we have small classes that help you socialize with teachers and classmates, it’s much better for one on one conversations and meeting a new friend.
