Freshman: I enrolled into Umpqua Community College due to their scholarship opportunities presented within their athletic program. Currently competing in Obstacle Course Racing, Cross Country and Track covering my full 2 year tuition. I found there campus the most unique from most community colleges, not only is UCC affordable, its also built on a mountain surrounded a gorgeous scenery. I have a passion for running and while attending UCC I have been able to travel to multiple states for competitions as well as getting the opportunity to be coached by a very brilliant coach that shares my same passion. Regarding my education, I have had many professors that do their best to guide me and other students to success. Including a professor that is related to former NFL player Troy Polamalu. I moved to Roseburg from Lodi California and have been offered so much support from this school that finding a living situation was easy. Sophomore: It was pretty great. For being a small community college, they offered many different types of courses, and every instructor I've had in my classes so far have been really helpful and kind. I never had any issues with any classes and always found support when I needed it. The classes themselves were very rewarding. I always left a class feeling like I really learned something. Moreover, the facilities here are modern, easy to get around, and overall just very clean and pleasant. The only issues I really had with attending this school was its website. It's slightly outdated, and trying to find certain information can be difficult at times. Some links just don't work, and some pages regarding student information, such as student finances or scholarships, barely have any information on them. They look uncompleted, but they still have them on their website as if they're resources that can be used by students. Still, overall, the experience attending this school has been great.... Sophomore: Portland Community College has such wonderful professors that really care about their students. Professors were kind, accommodating, and willing to listen to their students. Other: KCC is the greatest and only good college I've attended. I joined the GED program there in March of 2020. I passed my Math GED exam on May 26, 2023, and will graduate this month. The KCET staff were consistently supportive, encouraging, positive and provided help anytime I needed it. I was always encouraged with positive feedback, advice, guidance, and was always made to truly believe my success mattered to every one of those who were involved in the program. I suffer from Dyscalculia, which severely impedes my ability to comprehend, study, retain and learn math. The KCET staff constantly encouraged me to receive tutoring from their on-campus tutors. The tutors were professional, kind, patient, and non-judgmental. They supported me during my bad days and showed understanding each time it was evident I was struggling with a concept. Alum: I absolutely loved my experience at Central Oregon Community College. The faculty is incredible and the tuition is some of the lowest in the state, which is incredibly helpful because Bend's cost of living is quite high. I graduated with an Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree, which was readily accepted at Oregon State University when I applied as a transfer student. My favorite professors were Christopher Hazlett and Fleur Prade, who both had unique personalities that they wove into their instruction. Though my personal review of the college is 5 out of 5 stars, I have concerns with the overall ADA accessibility of the campus. Classes in Grandview and Ochoco Hall are extremely difficult to reach for those with mobility limitations. Freshman: Overall my experience at Southern Oregon University has been very memorable and I mean this in a good way. The people there are great and inclusive, it feels almost like home. People were very kind and respectful of others and there wasn't any bullying that I had personally experienced or heard from peers. I think one thing I'd like to see change is campus diversity. While there are some BIPOC people on campus, there still weren't many. As a POC, I would have liked to see more POC people. Another would be housing as there have been many stories, both personal and heard from peers, that trying to get ahold of housing or to get a straight answer was difficult. Graduate Student: My experience at Rogue Community College has been awesome and still continues to be awesome. I recieved my first degree from rogue and am now pursuing a second. Rogue has so many career paths and courses to choose from the possibilities to further or start your college education are endless. Rogue also goes out of there way to help there students financially. They have the resources and staffing to answer all of your questions, guide you, and even walk you through anything that might arise while you are a student. I highly recommend this college any chance I get to highschoolers and adults that want to further their education on have a career in life. You can set your own pace and even take alot of the courses online. The teachers are very knowledgeable and are there to guide you to success in achieving your goals. Sophomore: Warm and accepting community. Campus is always hosting community events and activities, and the entire environment is very friendly-neighborhood-esque. The arts programs' and trade programs' instructors really know their stuff! The professors and classrooms are all very professional and high-standards, though some of the facilities are smaller due to the community nature of the college. I felt the credits I received were accurate reflections of how much I learned. I took a fiction class here, and I feel that some of my best story writings came out of that course.... Sophomore: I really liked that I was close to home, I could still stay at home my first year after high school and saved money by having two free years of college because of the Oregon promise grant. I am grateful that throughout high school I could take online college credit classes, and now I am finishing my associate's degree a year early because I had completed a full year while I was in high school.
