Sophomore: After two semesters at PC I can say that I am EXTREMELY happy about choosing this community college as my reentrance into college life as an "adult learner". After a hiatus from school due to health and financial reasons, it took the pandemic to put things into perspective and remind me of what I truly value and enjoy in life: my education. Sophomore: PVCC is a great school to start your college journey. The classes are affordable, the campus is easy to navigate, and the professors are usually pretty great. When deciding on a degree path, the advisors are excellent at helping you get on track. My last two semesters there were a bit confusing and I was having difficulty figuring out what classes I needed to sign up for so that I could properly transfer my credits to the graduate school I chose. My academic advisor was thorough and replied to my messages quickly. He made sure I was on the right track and everything has gone through correctly. The counseling office was also helpful. Classes and home life tend to be stressful for me, but having access to professionals in counseling that I could meet with for free was a blessing to me. I felt assured by them and my professors were accommodating when I talked to them about it. Niche User: I've loved my experience at EAC! The classes are small and the teachers are kind, so you feel like you're getting a very personalized experience. I'm a language major there, and I've always felt welcomed by the rest of the language department. The professors are understanding and excellent at keeping a manageable workload. Freshman: Overall I think my student child would have preferred to be in Tempe, although housing seems better. Access to classes in proximity to dorms is great. Parking is limited & pricyley. Cafeteria comfort level ok. The AC wasn't working the last few weeks and requesting carryout costs 6.00! Finally, talk of a plethora of scholarship money out there easily accessible to the ASU website is true. Yet, when applying not a single confirmed positive hit has been reveived. (Still applying and for my student as well. ) Seems that a lot scholarships have strict qualifications, and for Pell grant recipients. However, if Pell grant earners have free money, why would they be prioritized to receive even more free money for college. The system seems unfair. College costs and fafsa awards are not geared for hard working middle /working class families. Freshman: I've had friends take online classes before, but none of their schools compares to Yavapai College in Prescott Arizona. Not only are the teachers amazing and really give you that one on one time to ask questions and actually learn things, but they also provide you with a laptop and hotspot in case you don't have your own. Financial aid is on top of everything, making sure that you get everything filled out and submitted on time to get grants and scholarships. All of the student advisors I've had have been really helpful in helping me to decide which classes to take so that I wasn't overwhelmed and would have the time to do my best in each one. Freshman: Enrolling and applying for Cochise College was extremely easy with plenty of people available for questions and help. The entire staff I had interreacted with made enrolling and understanding things like finances and tuition much more approachable and smooth to go through, espeically while requesting disability accommodations. Planning and holding meetings were quick and very efficient to get what I needed with little to no hassle. I really appreciated how approachable they made each task instead of surrounding the whole process of enrollment and figuring out my tuition with even more dread. I have not started classes yet so I cannot speak on my actual experience with that yet, but every before school task I had to complete as a college freshman was easily glided through. Alum: My experience at Chandler-Gilbert Community College was an amazing one. I don’t even know where to begin! I took so many different courses and learned exactly what I needed to and more. Junior: I love ASU! The polytechnic campus is smaller so its easier and faster to get from one classroom to the next. I absolutely loved my professors! They all feel like they actually care about our education and our concerns. I'm learning the material and when I have questions, I'm not afraid to ask the professor. I love all the events that happen on campus, especially the free food! My favorite place is the library! I can go there when I need some peace and quiet and the librarians always have book suggestions that actually help me. I can put my headphones on and relax on the couches and study for my classes. Freshman: For my first semester doing online classes was a neat experience. Both instructors were on top with communication if you needed help understanding the assignments or having difficulties with it or even needing an extension for technical reasons that one could be struggling. The fact that they have student services where one can take opportunity to use whether it's getting help with essays or math by tutors or using their online tutoring services for free which makes it stress free. Also services to assist in how to find scholarships and learn how to write scholarship essays too. Everyone there is helpful and courteous which helps calm any anxiety and can answer any questions you may have about enrollment, financial aid and such. In regards to what I would like to see change would be a big change but it would be nice instead of having to commute to a different city MCC campus for a profession that isn't taught at Kingman MCC. Junior: CCC is a great school for new and transfer students! They offer much more affordable course costs whether you are classified as an in district/ out-of-district/ out of state student. This is comparing to our next door neighbors, Northern Arizona Uni. When it came to taking general education courses, CCC made it much more affordable to earn credits that WILL transfer over to a 4 year university. The community of staff/ employees assisted me in making sure the courses I took will transfer over to Northern AZ Uni. This led to my time not being wasted on courses that wont transfer over. The amount of resources available made it very easy to stay on top of my courses and exams throughout my semesters. I have had mostly all great instructors but I could not complain with how much I have learned and taken with me for further education at a 4 year institution. You wont regret starting off here!...
