Sophomore: Yale has been a fun and enjoyable experience overall. I would definitely choose Yale again if I had to re-do my college application. Academics: some departments are better taught than other departments. Yale can be weaker in CS and Math compared to other universities, but most alums are still very successful. Like most colleges, there is a lot of independent learning and there are numerous resources to help you. The environment is not competitive unless premed. Social life: Yale has an AMAZING social life compared to other universities of equal caliber. There is always something going on and you can be as social as you want. Social life is nonexistent during midterm season. There are parties, frats, concerts, woads, club formals, and many other events. Junior: I have had a fantastic experience at Fairfield university! I love the community here and how friendly everyone is. It is super easy to make friends in classes and during clubs and activities. It is really nice to be able to make meaningful connections with professors with the small class sizes and Fairfield guarantees an internship during your four years so that is a nice perk. I genuinely love the energy and people here as well as the location. Being so close to the beach is awesome and the downtown area is super safe. Freshman: When I first started looking for colleges, I had an image in my head of what I wanted. I wanted to have a walkable campus, a beautiful quad, helpful professors and staff, and a diverse residency. The University of New Haven has all of these qualities! With a lively staff and an engaging academic program, I was guided and challenged to become the best version of myself. I was exposed to many different views and opinions that have helped me in my endeavors to find a career. U New Haven makes it their priority to prepare you for a career path that will not only help you, but the society that we live in today. Alum: I was an undergrad at Central as computer science major, got my BS in 2019. I had a great experience, both academically and socially. I had an internship right after graduation, but pandemic hit and did not get full-time. I got another job elsewhere as web programmer, working remote. I wanted to get a grad degree, so I enrolled in fall of 2021 in the Data Science master's program. I just graduated in May of 2023, and finished all my credits in July. I am writing this review because I just got a job in Boston, and wanted to show a success story and share my experiences at Central. I am grateful to Central, as I had amazing experiences, got my BS in computer science and MS in data science. The best value for my education. I felt like I owed it to Central to write this review. I was not the best student in high school or freshmen year at Central, but I got serious, worked hard and got my degrees. It has paid off, and I owe much less than my friends. Sophomore: University of Bridgeport is an excellent school in terms of curriculum, faculty, and, of course, the radiant and huge campus. You have a wide array of majors to choose from, and the extra curricular opportunities are amazing! This school is also very much suitable for international students, considering I am an international student and I fit it in very nicely, just as other students from over 30 countries who were with me during the Fall '21 intake. However, the only concerning factor about UB is the quality of students; I have a feeling sometimes that University of Bridgeport has kind of a loose attitude about accepting students and therefore you are in there with all kinds of bright and otherwise inclined students. Freshman: SHU gets a bad rep, but honestly, all colleges have their pros and cons. The adjustment period is never easy for anyone regardless of what school you go to, especially if you live on campus. I will say that your experience at SHU is what you make it. I highly recommend getting involved right off the bat, which is super easy since they basically throw a bunch of club and involvement opportunities in your face when you arrive on campus. Greek life does have a pretty big presence, I'd recommend getting involved with it (it's nothing like the south). The campus is beautiful which is a plus. If you're a health sciences/nursing major you'll get the best academic resources and attention. The Honors dorms are the nicest ones, if you don't get into honors you'll be put into the regular dorms but honestly they're not as bad as most typical college dorms (all dorms have AC and free laundry for example) and it's very easy to be social and make friends through them. Sophomore: I’m currently in my second semester of sophomore year and after completing all of my academic courses, I’m finally able to start working towards my illustration major and animation minor. In my freshman year alone, I’ve noticed just how much my art has improved! I’ve learned to pay attention to lighting in a 3D space and how to correct my proportions when it comes to drawing anatomy. I’m focusing on character design for video games and animated movies, and the Hartford Art School offers so many introduction courses that helps to introduce the subject in a matter that’s not overwhelming. I’ve already taken Drawing 1, Intro to Animation, Drawing 2 and an Intro to Illustration, which all align with my major. I love that despite having required classes, the school still offers courses to give you a taste of the different majors that they offer. Senior: My courses were conducted both in person and online this past semester. Although I prefer learning in person in an enviorment where I am connected with my instructors and my peers, I have been able to manage well through my online courses, especially because GWCC has done a really good job in conducting courses effectively where professors are not only lenient and understanding towards students with current circumstances, but all professors from my experience have done their best to make sure we still feel connected, especially those of us who are not living on campus and have classes that are all online.
