Sophomore: I've been at BCC for two years and can honestly say that it's a great school. I am happy with my decision of deciding to come here. All the professes I have had are super nice and help you with anything that you need. The Fall River Campus is huge! Some classes, they don't require textbooks and instead of OED. Open Education Rescources are amazing! They help save money on books. They have the option for learning online or in person. Some classes require you to go on campus. Sophomore: The staff (financial aid, student accounts, advising, registrar office) has been extremely helpful whenever I have needed assistance. The professors have all been very knowledgeable and compassionate. I learned very valuable information in all of the courses I have taken ( both online and on campus). Graduate Student: I graduated from the Respiratory Care program at NSCC. Although it was a rigorous program and fast paced, the professors were great and always provided resources and were reason my accommodating. What was good is that there was always scholarships available and even more now with the pandemic. It’s wicked affordable and I had job offers before even graduating! Freshman: Currently, I'm a student at Simmons University. While there's a lot wrong with the school (...Bartol), there are also some great things. All of my professors have been very dedicated to seeing me succeed, and are willing to put in extra time and effort to help me. Everyone I've met is either extremely friendly, or at least cordial, and I've made some of my best friends here. The dorms aren't great, but they also aren't awful. You can put in a work order, and usually, things get fixed. If you decorate, it will feel less like a jail cell. This school is STEM-focused, so humanities majors may find resources lacking, but the professors in humanities departments will acknowledge this. It's also great for LGBT students, as you won't be the minority. However, for POC students, there is work to be done. There are a lot of events specifically for POC students, though! Sophomore: Holyoke Community College has been a really great experience for me. My psychology professors in particular are incredibly knowledgeable, and are great at providing supplemental support. Something I'd like others to know that it took me a while to realize is: you are not getting the short end of the sticky by going to community college! HCC's disability services are incredibly inclusive and I would not be where I am without their support and accommodations. HCC also has so many resources if you are in need of school supplies, menstrual supplies, housing, food security--the list goes on. The school provides ample opportunity to meet new people and find a community, I just don't have the time to participate as a student who also works part time. Very minimal complaints about HCC.... Graduate Student: Amazing experience with so much support from professors and staff. I have grown so much and learned so much during my time at 4C's. This is a college that celebrates diversity and students represent a plethora of different backgrounds, ages, and circumstances. I felt that the majority of staff were helpful, supportive, caring, and understanding. However, the campus is quiet and lacks student engagement. Freshman: I first began taking courses at BCC, in my jr year of high school, continued through the summer, and finished my dual enrollment in December of my senior year. I was able to experience a Personal Communications course in my Jr year of high school, which was one of the most fun and intriguing experience. Me and two of my other friends took the course and we loved it, up until covid came and we went fully online. I also took a summer course in Sociology, which was just as fun, just online. I was originally planning on beginning my college journey at a University, but due to the pandemic, I found that staying local was my best option, especially considering the amazing community college that was available for me. I personally have taken part in an online course for my first full semesters and have enjoyed every minute.
