I learned from professors enmeshed in relevant research and current events. The school's community partnerships and proximity to the CDC allowed its students easy access to many professional opportunities, especially for those interested in infectious disease. Freshman: I really like the culture here: we emphasize both working hard and playing hard. Now, even for an introvert like myself, this is a great place to meet people, but also to hunker down and work. I really feel like my work matters here. Every assignment serves a purpose. I will say for a tech school, our digital infrastructure is laughable. Sure, our research is protected and secure, but not a day goes by that something does not crash. Not a huge problem, but very frustrating. BUT! Being a liberal arts major at Georgia Tech awards you countless advantages. Senior: I have loved my experience at the University of Georgia. I have truly had the best four years of my life at this school. There are ample opportunities and I have been able to meet so many people from all around the world through greek life, club events, academic events and my study abroad to the University of Oxford. The social life at UGA is truly remarkable and I have been able to flourish and grow into a better person because of the experiences I have had through UGA, including the national championship football team! I have really valued my education at UGA and believe I will be an incredible asset to the working world as my degree in psychology has prepared me to make a difference in the lives of many people. I have had a few concerns with the size of UGA and the lack of staff they have for the number of students attending the school. Senior: I love Berry College’s campus. Not only is it gorgeous, but it’s spacious, too. The professors are wonderful and personable. They want to see students succeed, and genuinely care about their students’ well being — physically and mentally. The college and professors were extremely understanding when I completed a semester at home (Fall 2020) for my mental health. I was welcomed back with open arms, and went on to do even greater things than I imagined. The work experience I have gained is entirely unique to Berry. I completed a thesis for my Honors degree, which has helped me in applying to graduate programs. As a small aside, the picky eater in me had a difficult time adjusting to the food on campus. Living in a dorm with a kitchen has been my greatest decision. It's the home of determined and goal driven women and to add-on it's been the number one HBCU for 16 consecutive years. When I first arrived at Spelman, I will never forget how comfortable everyone made me feel. It is truly a huge sisterhood. Spelman is very welcoming and there is a place for everyone here. In addition, there are lots of clubs here at Spelman such as Glee Club, P.U.L.S.E and Spelman Ambassador and so much more. Senior: Mercer is small and a great way to connect to people. You’ll never walk somewhere on campus without bumping into at least 1 person you know! 85% of the professors I had at the Macon campus were amazing and actually want to get to know you. Sports are so so but still fun to attend the events because again, everyone is so connected. Lots of opportunity for involvement and the community on campus is so supportive. Outside of the campus, it is kind of a rough area. Downtown has got super great weekend activities/restaurants. One unique aspect of Mercer is Z beans. Z beans was started by a mercer student and the university decided to implement their shop right on campus which shows they believe in their students. Some management/advising areas truly don’t make sense in why they do things but I think all universities are like that. Admissions is 10/10 super helpful though. Sophomore: My experience with Oglethorpe University has been an exceptional one because I feel like I matter, and not just as a student, but as a person, too. In class, I never feel like I'm just a number because my professors are great at making me feel like my opinions are valuable and are worth discussing. I also love the student atmosphere at Oglethorpe because everyone that I have met so far is warm and welcoming, and they genuinely want to get to know me as a person. The dorms are really cool because they have so many different options to choose from, which include an apartment style one, a suite style one, and a traditional style one, too. On top of that, I love how an all-access meal plan cost is included in the room and board cost for full-time students, so you can basically eat at the cafeteria for an unlimited amount of times everyday for the entire school year! Sophomore: I love Covenant for so many reasons! Particularly because it is exactly what is advertised. They say at orientation that you only get out of Covenant what you pour into it. I wholeheartedly agree. I have seen people invest in their community, commit to the work of the class load, and go above and beyond in connecting with professors and support staff. The tight-knit community offers a beautiful picture of people dwelling in unity and coming together in a particular set of beliefs, in this case, belief in Christ. I have loved pouring into this community, being involved in the lives of those around me and being encouraged in a transitional season of life by them. Overall, it is exactly what I was hoping to find in a college community: a safe space, where I can be true to my beliefs and find friends and training for a career that will last a lifetime. Alum: I loved attending Georgia Southern! From the smaller class sizes, to having everything on campus or in down town Statesboro, it became my home away from the big city. I had excellent professors, made life long connections, and had a job lined up 6 months before graduation thanks to campus-employer partnerships. Freshman: All Categories Rating 5 out of 5 Kennesaw State University is constantly growing especially in the art department. They have recently added a second building for specifically visual arts students since the old building could not handle the amount of classes needed to accommodate the students. There are many amazing and interesting courses that go beyond drawing the same still life over and over. The professor heavily encourage creativity and originality. Besides the art department, there are many accommodations made for students of various backgrounds. There are support groups, clubs, associations and fraternities/sororities to choose from. They have transportation all around campus as well as close shopping areas and certain off-campus destinations. Did I mention the cafeteria here is rated #15 in the nation? Freshman: I have completed one semester so far as a freshman. All of my classes are online and have been really great. I love the professors, the platform, the assignments, etc. However there is one thing that I feel Toccoa Falls College is lacking in it's online department and that is a way for students to connect and interact with other students. That social part of college is important, at least to me, and so this absence of any formal platform to meet and connect with other students has been a little disappointing. Another thing that I feel like the school could do better is communication with the student, especially as they are starting their first semester. I feel like I had to figure out and navigate everything myself which was a little difficult, but not impossible. If they would just have someone reach out more about things that need to be done, or just information on different things, that would be really good.
