Alum: I loved BC. It provided me with a top-notch education in the humanities, and I will continue to stay in touch with many of my professors even as a graduate. BC also provided me with the resources to grow spiritually, surrounded by (no joke) some of the most accomplished theologians in the world. The party scene was pretty great, and as long as you join a club or sport, you should have no problem finding an upperclassman to host you. Many students are, alas, quite “basic” and superficial, although perhaps I’m judging too hard. However, I was part of a group of people that was super smart, artistic, and down-to-earth, so don’t be too dismayed if you’re not a Vineyard Vines connoisseur! My biggest complaint is the administration. Other reviewers are unfortunately not being overdramatic by saying that the highest levels of administration don’t legitimately care about students’ concerns, and it seems that Jesuit values are just advertising for prospective students.... Sophomore: I absolutely love going to Bentley! I am going into my sophomore year and had an incredible freshman year. I made so many wonderful friends and really enjoyed my classes. Senior: I transferred to UMASS Amherst last spring halfway through my junior year, and I’ll say that it was the best decision of my life. I had gotten into UMASS as an incoming freshman but I was too scared to get out of my comfort zone and decided to go to a smaller school. But after almost three academic years I felt like that regret grow until I finally made the big decision to transfer! Junior: I’ve been enjoying my time here! Academically: professors are awesome. The work can range in how challenging it is but its all manageable. Socially: it’s an awesome balance for me! I’ve found friends through living on campus, my classes, engaging in activities on campus, etc. The campus culture is polite. Campus can be quiet especially with COVID. However, I prefer a weekend to recharge or be with a few people anyways. Pre COVID, bigger parties happened but were done by 1 AM. There were also more in person events like BINGO. These still exist but distanced and outside if its nice. There are virtual events. Area: the surrounding area is suburban. There are some restaurants/businesses to explore but ultimately it’s quiet. I wish we were close to Boston sometimes, but I ultimately feel at home on my cozy campus! Junior: UMass Dartmouth is a decent school. Everything about it is pretty good, if not better than than! The only things that could use any work would be the professors (seeing as some have thick accents, and others aren't the best at their jobs; but a majority are) and the dorms (seeing as there is no cooling in Sophomore dorms, which is a pain). The rest of the school and the experience there is, as said, good! While not a partier, there are a lot of parties that I've seen/heard about. The area around it is one that I've been in for most of my life. There are lots of stores, and a lot of food options if you don't like the food at the Grove (dining hall), Starbucks, Wendy's, the knock-off Subway, the ramen place, or the pizza place! There are many clubs and activities a few of which I've checked out an been part of. All of those experiences have been good. I have always felt safe on campus as well, as you should. Senior: Gordon has a phenomenal Kinesiology department. The professors really make an effort to get to know each student and build a relationship with them. Gordon College is also one of the few undergraduate schools in which offer cadaver labs. This is the big thing that made me choose this school! Sophomore: This college is perfect for me, personally. It is definitely a good choice if you're looking for a smaller school and a very tight-knit community. Everybody on campus is genuinely nice, the classes are perfect sizes, the teachers really care about your success, and they have great opportunities for everyone on campus - there truly is something for everybody. Specifically for my major, social work, the university offers so many unique opportunities, like 4 internships over my 4 years, to make my education the best it could be. Freshman: Bay Path is a hidden gem of a school. Bay Path was not on my list of schools initially. I originally thought it was too small. I was wrong. The size of the campus truly helps you feel as a community and a person, not a number. I cannot say enough about how pleasant and knowledgeable the staff is. Freshman: Merrimack College is a great place to flourish into becoming yourself. Senior: Endicott College was a great experience for me. The hardest part was the transition through COVID, which all colleges experienced. However, I feel like there is plenty to do on campus. Freshman: For a small campus in the wealthy part of Worcester, the overall atmosphere is phenomenal! The student body is very welcoming and friendly, and I had no issue making friends right away. There are many new facilities on campus, with an upcoming Neuroscience building under construction. Class sizes are usually less than or around 20 people and professors are truly motivated to help you succeed. Food at Taylor dining hall is fantastic and you can always treat yourself out to Charlie’s Snack Bar if that gets old. There’s a Dunkin’ on campus and a plethora of clubs to join. Division 2 sports have a fantastic win rate and you have free access to the D’Alzon library and the Plourde Recreational Center (containing weight rooms, treadmills, basketball courts, a pool, etc.). Freshman: Currently, I'm a student at Simmons University. While there's a lot wrong with the school (...Bartol), there are also some great things. All of my professors have been very dedicated to seeing me succeed, and are willing to put in extra time and effort to help me. Everyone I've met is either extremely friendly, or at least cordial, and I've made some of my best friends here. The dorms aren't great, but they also aren't awful. You can put in a work order, and usually, things get fixed. If you decorate, it will feel less like a jail cell. This school is STEM-focused, so humanities majors may find resources lacking, but the professors in humanities departments will acknowledge this. It's also great for LGBT students, as you won't be the minority. However, for POC students, there is work to be done. There are a lot of events specifically for POC students, though! Sophomore: I go to the school of nursing at elms and it’s been a great experience. The college is very small with with well educated staff who are friendly and easy to communicate with. Senior: Boston University is one of the best universities in the nation! The students welcome you with open arms and are eager to meet new people from different year levels, so it is very easy for people to get involved in the BU community. As for the faculty, specifically the CS and Mathematics professors, they are the absolute best! They are so helpful inside and outside of the classroom, trying their best to make sure that their lectures are engaging, and putting aside a lot of time outside of their class for office hours.
