Senior: Rigorous academics, and a value on education, beyond the confines of a classroom. Close-knit campus community, and alumni- with many opportunities for hands-on learning, networking, internships, and opportunities for undergraduate research. Very friendly campus community, with big city amenities, and two large universities close by. Having toured other small colleges, Concordia stood out to me due to it’s friendly, down-to-earth community, and emphasis on being globally aware, and engaged. I’d like to see more international students coming to campus. There is a definite emphasis on attracting, and retaining a diverse student body, but would love to see more cultures represented. Concordia college has many excellent resources available- whether that be for furthering education, internship placement, research opportunities, or medical school preparation. Sophomore: I'm currently a sophomore on the hill, and one thing I can say for sure is that the professors are INCREDIBLE! I haven't had a bad professor yet. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I think it's because St. Olaf truly has amazing faculty. The school has its fair share of issues, like every college. However, it's a still a very special place; all the people are caring and fun, the campus is beautiful, and the community is vibrant. Personally, I like the small college vibe. It's fun having so many mutual friends and it's really easy to meet people! But if you're not someone who likes recognizing people frequently around campus, St. Olaf might feel suffocating to you. Freshman: I absolutely love Bethel University! The community that is found in this Christ-centered place is like none other. I have never attended a school who's staff has so much love and care for each and every student and is willing to sacrifice their time to pour into their students. My life has truly been changed by coming to Bethel and I have met so many incredible people and established so many incredible relationships that I would not have found anywhere else. The campus is absolutely gorgeous, especially with Lake Valentine right next to the academic buildings! The walks to and from class are short, there are so many areas to hang out with your friends, campus is super close to Target, the coffee at RG is amazing, and the classes are great! Bethel Student Government puts on several events throughout the year to invest in the student body and foster relationships with others around campus. Alum: UST is an amazing campus with an intuitive layout and stunning buildings! I love how they managed to secure a few sizable grassy quads that make such a difference from the typical concrete jungle of the city. It also has a prestigious reputation academically and the philosophy department in which I spent most of my time was absolutely fantastic. Class size was also not too big so as to make the student feel like a number, but also not too small that participation was lacking. I was less pleased with with some of the renovations completed during my time there that seemed to take away from the original aura of the campus. I also attended the school in large part for its Catholic identity. However, I was saddened to discover such an identity was nominal at best. I would have liked to see the president of the university make a more significant effort to sustain the schools long-held Catholic heritage instead of undermine through various policies and decisions.... Junior: Martin Luther College is a smaller university located in the small town New Ulm, MN. I have always pictured myself going to a big city and enjoying the big city life, but Martin Luther surprised me with its' small family charm. I love the atmosphere here and all of the professors and faculty genuinely care about each student and build close relationships with everyone. The courses offered are also quite interesting because most students are on an education track so every course is demonstrating how to best teach. Niche User: Northwestern is a great school. The professors are nice and actually care about what they are teaching you. They want to see you learn and succeed. All of the advisors are helpful if you have a question about your schedule or future classes. The campus is beautiful. It is private, but a good distance from a mall and various restaurants. There are many places on campus to put in a pair of headphones and have a deep study session. There are also common areas, such as the cafe, where you can meet new people. The PSEO program is great. Junior: The University of Minnesota is a very good school for almost all of the majors it provides, and has a very strong reputation in most industries. The professors I have encountered in my time here have all been extremely knowledgeable, personable and passionate about what they teach. I am personally a big football and basketball fan, and although UMN may not stack up very well in those departments, we are a force to be reckoned with in volleyball and hockey. This drew me in and gave me a new interest in sports I previously knew nothing about. Alum: I consider myself very blessed to have been able to attend Bethany. I met fantastic people on campus - some of my dearest friends - and I know Bethany's education really set me up for success. I was able to double major (and minor), study abroad, get a good internship in Mankato, and land a full-time job before I had even graduated (all while participating in numerous extracurricular activities). Every single one of my professors at Bethany knew me by my first name, and I was able to pursue what I loved in so many areas! Bethany may not have all the bells and whistles of larger universities, but it has something way more important: faculty and staff who pour their hearts and souls into their students and go out of their way to serve you. Junior: North Central University is one of the finest universities out there! Especially is you're going into Worship leading, music, or ASL (American Sign Language), North Central is the place to be! Located in downtown Minneapolis, there is a rich vibrancy of culture, diversity, and different views (that you're probably not used to)! Freshman: Winona State University has a great environment! The campus is beautiful as well as the whole town. There is a lot to do in Winona. Winona is great for outdoor activities as well for indoor activities. There are great parties if you are into that, but there is also a lot to do on campus as well. I like to consider Winona State University as the perfect size, not too big and not too small. I’ve so far met a lot of great people and friends. I highly recommend joining a club, you make so many friends that way and it is easier to make connections. WSU has so many clubs, you could easily find one that is fit for you. I personally am on the cheer team and I love it. All my professors have been very nice and understanding. They care a lot about your education. Winona State University also has a great health services program with a great counselor available. WSU is also part of the “green bandanna project”. Sophomore: I love attending MSUM! The campus community is friendly and welcoming. The class sizes are small, so students have the opportunity to build strong relationships with classmates and staff. There are many job opportunities that suit the varied interests of students. There are also a variety of clubs and organizations (major-oriented, religious, political/advocacy, just for fun, etc.). I'm an education major, and I can say that the education professors truly care for their students and want them to succeed. We also receive many great opportunities for field experience, as we start practicums as freshmen. The community is great as well. There is always something to do in the Fargo-Moorhead area and there are many great dining options. MSUM is excellent, however, I would like to see more diversity of all forms on campus. Sophomore: After my first year of attending college, I found that the University of Minnesota Crookston had a lot to offer. Between the variety of clubs available to join, to the on-campus activities that never seemed to end, there was always something to do or someway to get involved. The classes were taught in a professional manner and gave me plenty of opportunity to learn the material. The staff were willing to help you to the best of their ability, and seemed to always be willing to go above and beyond what they needed to do. Senior: Crown College is a wonderful place to grow holistically. Professors push you to think deeper and critically, forming your own thoughts and values. Students and staff are available for mentorship relationships and want to encourage and support you spiritually, academically, and emotionally.
