Senior: I transferred into Liberty University as a junior, I was excited to be on a campus that loved Jesus. I have been challenged by the coursework, professionally developed through leadership programs, and grown deeply in love with Jesus. As a behavioral sciences and religion major, the classes are practical and applicable to the field that I am going in. My professors have a wealth of knowledge in their areas and care deeply about their students. The classes are not insanely difficult, but the material is challenging and insightful. There is opportunity to be mentored and developed holistically as a student and as a leader through programs such as residential assistant and others. While Liberty is amazing, I would desire to see more leniency in their approach to rules. Liberty can be conservative on things like dress code and I think they should not have a say in certain things. Aside from that, Liberty is incredible and I would recommend the school for anyone!... Sophomore: Regent University exceeded my expectations with the content in the online biblical courses that was so insightful, and detailed surrounding the time that the Bible was actually written. I enjoyed the interactions with professors and my classmates. Overall Regent has the best online experience as navigating blackboard was easy, and communication tools were very effective! My professors usually responded the same day or the next day with answers to my questions. I absolutely loved the online courses at Regent. Also, my counselor often checked in to see how I was doing, to let me know if there was something they needed, and to let me know when I could choose more classes, unusually nice of them. Lastly, next semester I will be taking courses on campus in which I am looking forward to engaging. Regent University was a great choice of schools, and I am humbled by the experience thus far. Sophomore: Eastern Mennonite University is a small liberal arts school, and most of its strengths and challenges come from this title. I have had a wonderful time interacting with professors and scheduling meetings 1-on-1 to talk about assignments and life in general. The opportunities to get involved in clubs and extracurriculars are extensive, and I have felt a general openness and optimism towards new ideas on campus. EMU's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee works very hard to listen to each other's needs and the needs of campus. Grants are distributed to students who want to make a difference, and present their proposals to the committee. Funding is a struggle at EMU, however. Because of its religious background, many alum donating money to the school are religious and sometimes unsupportive of the more progressive ideas and programs that are being put in place. Senior: Don't get me wrong, Roanoke has its downfalls— many of the residential halls drastically need to be redone, and communication between offices is lacking. HOWEVER, going to college here is the best decision I could've made. Most of the professors and staff members are excellent. They love what they do and genuinely care about the students. The classes are definitely challenging but are obtainable with hard work. The people are great! I've met so many people from so many different walks of life at this school. Greek life is a huge part of campus and you can usually find an event happening Wednesday to Sunday each week, but no one cares if you're a member or not. Alum: University of Lynchburg is a lovely small to mid-size college with beautiful scenery and exceptional staff members, professors, and programs. I was able to connect more personally with my professors than I would have if I attended a larger college. One of the issues I had as a commuter student was an overall lack of connection to other students and peers. Although the school held various commuter student events, it was hard to make friends as I was not seeing others as frequently. I felt a general sense of loneliness and isolation, and ended up graduating without making any deep or meaningful connections. Although it was due to my own personal circumstances and faults, I wish the school would have done a better job of reaching out to students who felt alone or were struggling with other issues. BC has changed a lot in the years since it was Spring Creek Normal School, but it has remained true to its roots as the first co educational institution in the state of Virginia. Bridgewater has a mostly residential campus with a small student body hovering around 1600. Bridgewater has small class sizes, and professors that are committed to the growth of the students. Sophomore: There are so many wonderful things about RMC, the small school feel, friendly students, many different clubs and activities on campus, and access to professors and research opportunities. Ashland is a safe town and you can walk for food or just to check out the holiday decorations or small shops nearby. I gave four stars instead of five for two reason. One that is consistently mentioned here is the food. I hope that when the contract is up with the current company, the college changes many things about dining. There is a lack of lower priced options in dining plans for on campus students, some have cars and prefer to only eat on campus about half the time. Second, there were times last year I felt overwhelmed by work. I was working sometimes almost constantly, there was no work-life balance. I think/hope the message was received by admin and because I think this year is a lot better. Overall, a great school, great financial aid, you’ll be glad if you decide to come here!... Graduate Student: I have really enjoyed the Doctor of Healthcare Administration (DHA) program at VUL. The program is very fast paced being only a 12 month long program. Alum: Without Bethel College I would not be the person I am today. Without Bethel College I would not be serving as United States Army Chaplain. Probably, most importantly without the guidance from staff and professors I would not be the Pastor I am today. Bethel College is truly a gem in ways that are beyond words. I received my Associates (2007) and Bachelor degree (2008) from Bethel degree. And without hesitation if they would have offered a MDIV degree, I would have continued my education at BC. I can't imagine a staff and professors that come close to Competence, Care, and Compassion the way that BC executes on a daily basis. For example: My precious mother died on March 8 2007. Senior: As a Christian student, I want everything I do to glorify God. While I've been attending Liberty Online, everyone here has been key in encouraging me in that. From my professors who understand my needs, to the online campus shepherds who pray for me, right down to the admissions team who agreed with me about praying for God's will in where and if I should continue my college education. I think what you get out of any class, especially online, depends on the effort you put in, but my professors have made an effort to give me good feedback and help make it easier for me to realize my potential. A note for future students: Don't take their resources for granted. Explore the student dashboard! The writing center, the Jerry Falwell library, so much more is available to online students than I realized in my first year. But most importantly, go to the university that God's calling you to.
