College Junior: Mount Aloysius College isn't the largest school nor is it the most well known, however, once a student is officially in and is walking on campus, it's a world like no other. Every building, every stained glass window, every carving in every fireplace, every statue, tree, bench, or even plant has a story and a tie to the school. The culture and history of this school are mind-blowing and they can sometimes overwhelm people. The fact that it is religiously affiliated might make some people turn away, but I can proudly say that the school celebrates its religion without forcing it down their students' throats! I was scared that attending this college would make me feel ashamed of who I am but it's helped me learn to not only embrace myself but others, as well. It isn't without its faults, but this college definitely has a lot of benefits of attending. If I could go back in time and be a high school senior deciding on what college is best for me, I would probably be a little bit more open-minded. For me, the process was dreaded and avoided. I didn't want to look at a lot of schools at the time. Now, I wish I had at least traveled to see more schools or gone away. I would have still chosen the Mount, but it would have been nice to have exposed myself to other campuses first, just so I wouldn't feel so biased when I say that my campus is the prettiest or best kept. Overall, my two years at the Mount have been interesting. College is more than just a learning experience where education and degrees are concerned; college is all about finding yourself, finding where you belong, and becoming comfortable with the decisions you make. Throughout these past two years, I've made a lot of decisions and I've learnt a lot about not just myself but also those around me and the place I live. My college has been serving its purpose thus far and it has educated me in many, many fields of life. I wouldn't have it any other way.
