Niche User: I've committed to play ball at St Bonaventure, and everything about the recruiting process has been incredible. On my visit, everyone was so kind, and genuine, and really seemed to love this school. I'm not just talking the students, but the Uni staff, and people all over the town. Sophomore: As a transfer student, the transition has been smooth with the help of advisors. It was more cost effective to attend a university within my home state and still have my independence as it changed from a commuter school to now being able to dorm on campus. Great programs to choose from, smaller class sizes, which helps you to have more interaction with your professors so you’re known by name. Campus life can give you the opportunity to participate in different activities/clubs and having a well known theatre on campus exposes you to performances from your peers as well as nationally known artists. Alum: Fordham as a Biology major is a very different experience than that of the Business School, they did prepare us well in terms of courses required to apply to graduate medical programs. However, I recall begging professors to open more class sections for the most basic courses (human anatomy and phys) required for schools. They underestimated how many students needed to complete these basic science courses in order to be eligible for graduate programs. Further, they proposed we take Biology and Chemistry at the same time our first year so we “required less overall credits to graduate.” With labs and other courses, I ended up having way more than the amount of credits required anyways, thus negating the appeal of taking both at the same time in the first place. It was a “weeding out” process. When I asked for help, my advisor stated I was “not serious enough to pursue medicine,” but I sought out my own advisor, and here I am now! En route to PA school.... Sophomore: I've absolutely loved the community that I have found here at Niagara University. The program that I'm in is so incredibly welcoming and supportive. Freshman: After finishing my first year as a freshman, I'd say that St. John's University is a top level amazing school. The environment of campus is perfect, you have a wide open great lawn surrounded by buildings of all varieties. HUGE diversity, you get to meet people from all over the country! Even though St. John's is a catholic school, they have a church is for all religions. Residence Halls are set in a village like area, all having different names and surrounding locations like the Montigoris Dining Hall and Public Safety. Dorms in the residence halls have their own setup, whether it's a suite or traditional, double room or single room. Speaking of Public Safety, I feel safe being on campus. They have guards at each gate and are on the scene if something goes down. Food at the dining hall is amazing, they have a different varieties of food, such like Grill and Hibachi. Senior: I genuinely love Hilbert and I am going to be very sad when I graduate next May. All of the professors I have had are very hands-on and work well with their students. They are always reachable via email - some faster than others - yet they all are reachable nonetheless. One thing I wish was different is that there be more class options or more specific majors for individuals who are pursuing a specific degree. Freshman: Iona University has a lot of amazing programs available for students. I'm currently apart of the TRIO SSS program. The TRIO SSS program offers a ton of information from both peers and mentors that understand the challenges and goals of first generation students, individuals from low-income backgrounds and even students with disabilities. I am also a student athlete on the acrobatics and tumbling team, I spend at least 20 hours a week practicing on top of being a full time student. Although I don’t have any prior knowledge of what college is like from my family, I have the passion to be as involved as possible on campus and get the knowledge I need from my mentors and peers. I’m a freshman so I have not yet declared my major although I plan on doing a 4+1 program in Education while majoring in Adolescent English. Sophomore: I transfered to Siena during my freshman year. The staff and professors could not have made my transition more seamless and easy. Freshman: Trocaire is an amazing college and a great fit for me. I take half my courses online and half in person. Everyone is friendly and always willing to help. All the instructors I have had so far have been amazing to work with. There is tutoring available, which I have taken advantage of. I also belong to a program called Trio, which gives me extra help to insure attaining my goals to graduate. I have attended several workshops to help with studying and taking notes. I even received a gift card for a local grocery store! That gave me the opportunity to study more without worrying working extra hours to cover bills.
