Freshman: I really like the culture here: we emphasize both working hard and playing hard. Now, even for an introvert like myself, this is a great place to meet people, but also to hunker down and work. I really feel like my work matters here. Every assignment serves a purpose. I will say for a tech school, our digital infrastructure is laughable. Sure, our research is protected and secure, but not a day goes by that something does not crash. Not a huge problem, but very frustrating. BUT! Being a liberal arts major at Georgia Tech awards you countless advantages. Freshman: Ogeechee Tech College seems like a nice college campus with friendly and helpful staff members. I plan on attending there for this coming Summer semester so i am more than excited for that! The area around the college seems a little depressing and gloomy but hopefully i will like it once i start. The only thing i do not really care for is the layout of the college campus buildings. They have the main campus building almost in the back when you would think it would be at the front of the campus so new students and visitors would be able to easily see it. I am not sure why they have the layout like that. But overall, i think i will have a good experience attending Ogeechee Tech College. Freshman: I like the small community that Agnes has and how it feels like a big sorority that you’ll always be a part of. It’s a small school but on most days it doesn’t feel like it all, you’ll definitely know of everyone whose in graduating class but you’ll still be able to say you don’t actually know them just like people don’t at bigger schools. However, I don’t like how the school is not a STEAM school but a STEM school and if you are an art major of any sort you’ll definitely feel the importance of that exclusion. Other non STEM majors are hard to study here as well but they have more opportunities and and resources to help them succeed. Agnes does partner with GSU, SCAD, Emory and Tech so getting a proper education in other majors is possible but the dual programs don’t really start until junior year so you will be behind others in your intended field, with the same graduation date, depending on your major. Junior: My experience at South Georgia Technical College was absolutely astonishing, the instructors were so kind and very helpful. Senior: I love Berry College’s campus. Not only is it gorgeous, but it’s spacious, too. The professors are wonderful and personable. They want to see students succeed, and genuinely care about their students’ well being — physically and mentally. The college and professors were extremely understanding when I completed a semester at home (Fall 2020) for my mental health. I was welcomed back with open arms, and went on to do even greater things than I imagined. The work experience I have gained is entirely unique to Berry. I completed a thesis for my Honors degree, which has helped me in applying to graduate programs. As a small aside, the picky eater in me had a difficult time adjusting to the food on campus. Living in a dorm with a kitchen has been my greatest decision. Sophomore: GSU is overall a great school. Being that it's in the middle of Downtown Atlanta, it's always something to do, the school always is trying to get students to engage with each other. I would like to see change regarding the housing situation and financial aid. Personally, my housing experience was great, they make freshman a priority when it comes to housing, leaving upperclassmen with little to no hope. Freshman: So far, I have enjoyed my experience at Georgia State University Perimeter College. I appreciate the smaller class sizes, it allows you to communicate with the professors more easily and form connections. They also have an abundance of tutoring resources and a great academic team to help guide you toward your desired career. Personally, I find the on-campus career coach to be very informative, she helps you understand what classes you'll need for your specific career and what additional steps you will need to take. Sophomore: I love Covenant for so many reasons! Particularly because it is exactly what is advertised. They say at orientation that you only get out of Covenant what you pour into it. I wholeheartedly agree. I have seen people invest in their community, commit to the work of the class load, and go above and beyond in connecting with professors and support staff. The tight-knit community offers a beautiful picture of people dwelling in unity and coming together in a particular set of beliefs, in this case, belief in Christ. I have loved pouring into this community, being involved in the lives of those around me and being encouraged in a transitional season of life by them. Sophomore: My overall experience at Morehouse has been one that I would never realize I needed. I was at a point in my life where I did not know what to do. I sat down with my mom to select schools and Morehouse was not even at the top of my list. Everyone kept telling me that Morehouse has everything to offer and more. I finally made my decision to go to Morehouse and it was the best decision I have ever made. Without Morehouse I wouldn't be where I am today. Freshman: When the pandemic hit, the LTC professors and staff made a smooth transition to online learning. I got the information I needed to help me get into my program at LTC. Professors used blackboard and other tools to make learning efficient and accessible. I am very impressed by how curriculum was delivered and we were still able to maintain a classroom connection with fellow students. It was a scary time at the beginning of 2020, but LTC kept the student body motivated and inspired with friendly emails, online counseling, and online education resources. The campus was closed and highly focused on keeping students and staff safe. Now that we hybrid, LTC is working hard at a maintaining safe and healthy campus for all. With alternating days between online learning and on-campus learning to health check stations, LTC has made huge efforts to preserve their high level of education during this pandemic.
