I am currently a college freshman attending Rock Valley College and I was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome by the staff and teachers. I have a shy and quiet personality, but the staff had helped me become more comfortable talking and getting to know others. There are also many different resources that are available for all sots of students and I appreciate that. It is my first year after all and I needed as much academic guidance I could get. I also appreciate the kindness I receive when talking about my sexuality, with no one being judgmental or rude. The campus is also wonderful! I love the locations and how clean everything is! I think my favorite thing is how clean the buildings and bathrooms are, which is not what I experienced in high school. The events are also wonderful too! They bring in emotional support dogs, have guest speakers and serve food to the students and staff. I haven't gone here very long, but I've already enjoyed myself plenty.
I love Rock Valley! It wasn't my first choice of college, but it's great for me financially. It allows me to stay close to home, in an area I'm familiar with, and work two jobs while also balancing my college credits. They don't offer my sports(Track and Cross Country), but I'm still able to stay involved in other ways, like campus clubs and activities. They're very inclusive, and definitely made us feel safe with COVID.
Going to Rock Valley was one of the best choices for me especially financially. It was easy to apply for financial aid, scholarships, and everyone there wants you to succeed. My experience was very personable and I made many great relationships with my classmates, professors and coaches. It was a great way to earn my associates while saving money, but still getting a good college experience!
