    Lake Area Technical Institute

    • Watertown, SD

College Junior:The instructors are the best. They care about each and everyone of their students. If a student is falling behind, quiet, or confused they will talk with them personally and help them through any problems. The courses are set up in a way that you learn, but have a great time doing so. Time flies!

Junior:The instructors are very knowledgeable of what they are teaching and they will do anything to help you succeed. They dedicate their office hours to students if they have questions or need one-on-one help with anything. The dorms are very nice, they're set up more like apartments than dorm rooms which is nice. From what I've experienced of the college food, it's good. They have a different meal everyday (hot or cold) plus a salad bar and a section for desserts. They have quite an array of programs that they offer which is nice for people who don't have access to a certain program at a college not in their area. They don't offer athletics other than intramural sports like basketball. The campus is safe because almost always there a police officer on campus during the day and SWTC offers Criminal Justice so officers-in-training are almost always present as well. SWTC is very strict about their alcohol policy in the dorms so there isn't much of a party scene.

College Senior:A great school. Within weeks I was connected to many areas of the student body, from high schoolers to 40 year olds... My advisor has gone above and beyond in assisting me in what I want to do. The staff is great, helped me create a resume and even get a few interviews, eventually a job. I see friends and teachers in town all the time and they always chat me up. Very beautiful town, open-minded school, and easy to get plugged in. I am a part of a few clubs! My first year was a success.

    Bellingham Technical College

Freshman:Best experience I have had with professors and staff. They are all super friendly and so willing to help you. I really love the class sizes, too. The classes I've had so far have ranged from 12-28 students. This is the perfect size to really get to know the material and your classmates. Also, I think it is amazing that the school tries to cut the costs of textbooks as much as they can. They made my education much more affordable by doing so.

    Southeast Technical Institute

    • Sioux Falls, SD
    • 95 reviews
College Sophomore:From the very beginning at the application process, the whole faculty was very sensitive, understanding and very helpful. You felt like family. The instructors were so hands on and will go the extra mile to help you understand what you don't. I believe my school is unique because it is veteran friendly. Since I am a veteran, the application and the process was made so easy with its own veteran help desk. My most favorite experiences was being part of an organization called Skills U.S.A., where you did competitions and was part of student body government. I would go and am going back to school at Southeast Technical Institute for a career change because I have some G.I. Bill left and for the fact I think the Instructors get more satisfaction seeing the students succeed in their new profession.

Sophomore:I have had an awesome experience at ICC. I had origionally planned on attending a 4 year university straight out of high school, but my parents thought that it was best for me to attend ICC first. They were right. ICC has been a blessing. I have made so many new friends and built great lifelong relationships. The teachers are always so helpful. They are willing to do anything possible to help you out. I am so thankful that I chose to attend ICC first.

This was my first semester and I was pleasantly surprised by how many opportunities there are to get help, how friendly the staff and professors were, how kind and helpful the students were and how beautiful the campus was. Chippewa Valley Technical College

    • Eau Claire, WI
    • 145 reviews
College Sophomore:I am a brand new mother to an infant child, and I was extremely nervous about starting up school with an infant at home. When I started my first day of school, I came to realize that at 30 years old, I was in the median age group for my peers. There were fathers and mothers in my class. My professors, being parents themselves, we're happy to give me advice on how to make the two worlds clash and work together. One day, my baby sitter fell through as her own son was injured, and I couldn't find a sitter. My professor was more than accommodating as he told me to go ahead and bring my infant son to class. That is when you know your professors will take the proper measurements to help see you succeed. I just finished my first semester in the Paralegal program, and I earned a 4.0 for the semester. This experience has made me realize that Chippewa Valley Technical College really cares about their students and makes coming to class a joy.

Niche User:I have attended SCTCC for the past year and a half as a PSEO student. I am going on my fourth and final semester. I wish I could stay, but unfortunately SCTCC does not have the program I want to get into. I adore everything about this college. It is very affordable. The students and faculty are wonderful. Everyone is willing to help you. There is quite a bit of diversity and culture is very important. The campus is small, but easy to navigate. There is a ton of resources available to students. The commons food is good, but there is also the culinary student run restaurant called Chef's Corner and the food is delicious. Overall, this college is great and I recommend it to anyone!

College Senior:I love my college! The instructors are very understanding and are here to help and help you understand the material you are struggling with. They offer free tutoring sessions Monday-Friday 8 am-8 pm in the TLC which is absolutely so helpful! Personally I've had so much help from them, they help me pass my classes! Did I mention it's free? Definitely flexible with hours during the week. We have a student center where you can play games and get to know the other students attending there! I made quite a few friends! Everyone here is so respectful and only want to help you with your goals.

Alum:I had the best experience at the University of South Carolina-Lancaster. All of the professors I had were excellent and more than happy to work one-on-one with students. Although the area is nothing out of the ordinary, and there is no food on campus nor a very lively student life, tuition is cheap and I feel that the experience is worth every penny, also student life will only be as good as you try to make it. If the university had been more than a 2-year campus, I would have stayed but sadly had to transfer. Highly recommend this university.

Freshman:SCCC is a beautiful campus and the instructors have been extremely helpful. At the beginning of my first semester, each of my teachers gave us their e-mail addresses and phone numbers and we were to contact them if ever we needed to. The advisors have also been very helpful in deciding what classes I need to take. Trio as well has been amazing! They have been helping me stay on track for graduation and they genuinely care about my success and my experiences on campus. I know that if I were to need any extra support or help with assignments I can go to them and they are clearly happy to help.

Sophomore:This college has exceeded my expectations. The professors were always friendly and willing to help. However, it was still pretty costly compared to other community colleges.

    Lakeshore Technical College

College Junior:The courses I have this semester are very well taylored for my field of work. The professors are so helpful in making sure we understand what we are learning, and they take the time to explain things if we don't. My classes are very small and consist of an average of 10 students. Which is great for one-on-one time.

    Northcentral Technical College

    • Wausau, WI
    • 143 reviews
Sophomore:I would like to see more involvement/ activities for the outlying campuses. I have had a better experience so far in me second year at a bigger campus, but on outlying campuses it is very difficult to make friends and to get involved. Taking classes over ITV can often feel like you are watching TV, which can sometimes be boring. That also depends a lot on the teacher and if they are making an effort to involve all students. Overall I have had mostly really good teachers, good support when I seek it, and a fairly positive overall experience.
