    West Virginia University

    • Morgantown, WV
    • 2,440 reviews
Sophomore:West Virginia University is a research institution focused on providing a world-class education to its students. The University is split up into 3 different campuses around the city of Morgantown and is connected by a Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) monorail system built in the 1970's. This makes access between the Evansdale medical and engineering campuses and the downtown main campus easy. Student housing and meal plans are overpriced and mandatory for incoming freshmen. Professors in all disciplines are engaged in some sort of research, and there are many research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. The professors are very good at their jobs, and are always available for office hours and are welcoming of in-class discussion of topics. It is well known that our sports are competeting in the highest level, from football, to basketball, to soccer, and rifle shooting. Hail West Virginia!

    Wheeling Jesuit University

    • Wheeling, WV
    • 220 reviews
College Junior:Professors at Wheeling Jesuit University truly care about their students and wish the best for all of them. They are willing to go above and beyond to get to know the student and help them out in whatever way that they can. Every professor in my departments are incredibly knowledgable in their subject field and bring passionate vigor to teach every class period. Core classes fill up at 25 students and major classes are much smaller. Because of the small class sizes, it is easy to get to know the professors well and what they are looking for. Many of my professors have invited students over to their houses for beginning and end of the semester socials in addition to allowing students to get to know their families. The professors at Wheeling Jesuit University truly care for their students and are willing to make time for them outside of office hours.

College Junior:The college may seem small and uninteresting to someone from a big town or with high expectations, but this college is far from. There is always something to do and someone to do it with. This campus is full of friendly, amazing people, and tons of activities. I'd always chose this school if given the chance to chose again.

    Davis & Elkins College

    • Elkins, WV
    • 255 reviews
College Freshman:D&E college is very student-oriented. Every Friday, when the weather is warm, we have an ice cream truck that comes around campus that is completely free and as the weather gets colder, they will proceed to have toasty Tuesday, which includes coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies. The cafeteria food may not be the best, but we have a restaurant of sorts on campus called Cadillac Daddies and they make up for the sub-par caf food. The teachers know what they're talking about and seem to love what they are doing. The upperclassmen are super friendly and make the freshman feel welcome and included. This may have been a wildcard school for me in the beginning, but I do not regret coming here and I would feel confident in making the same decision again.

    West Virginia Wesleyan College

    • Buckhannon, WV
    • 408 reviews
Freshman:Wesleyan is a great school and I feel so lucky to go here! The students are all so incredibly nice, and it's great being able to know everyone on campus. The teachers are genuine and care about every student, and there are hardly classes with more than 30 people. It's true that you have to make the most of it, which is the case with any small school, but the environment overall is welcoming and friendly.

    Alderson Broaddus College

    • Philippi, WV
    • 255 reviews
Senior:Alderson Broaddus is a beautiful school located in the mountains. The interaction with students is typically a high level considering most students here are athletes, we all know one another or support sporting events. The professors understand that student athletes miss a lot of class so they work well with them one on one.

    Marshall University

    • Huntington, WV
    • 1,286 reviews
Sophomore:Marshall is a unique university when it comes not only to our history but our acceptance of diversity. Marshall's dedication to the remembrance of the 75 members of the Marshall community who were lost swells each student with pride for their community. It has been nearly 50 years since the crash but the annual fountain ceremony continues to grow, rather than diminish.
As for the acceptance of diversity, Marshall was voted the most LGBT+ friendly university in West Virginia. As a member of the LGBT+ community, it makes me feel accepted and safer on campus. The university is even hosting a clothing drive for transgender students who don't feel comfortable leaving "the closet".
The sense of community in this university is a welcome feeling for every student and I am proud to say that I am a daughter of Marshall.

    Bluefield State College

    • Bluefield, WV
    • 128 reviews
Sophomore:The available "open door policy" support and hands on academic setting set Bluefield State College (BSC) apart from any other campus. The staff are not only focused to aid in your success; but it's almost as though they are willing to go out of their way (generally speaking and including all departments from President's Office to Maintenance) to see that your needs are being exceeding. The campus is safe and relatively busy for the peaceful rural setting and despite popular belief from the relatively inactive student body there is PLENTY to do. As a Sophomore I am this year's 2016-17 HBCU All-Star Ambassador for the White House Initiative, a full time security officer (Mercer Mall), active member of 8 social clubs/student organizations, and a prospective honors graduate with aspirations to attend Med/Law/Grad school of my choosing. I attribute everything to the staff's support and guidance.

Niche User:I love that West Virginia is unlike most colleges. The campus is a town which gives you so many more fun activities to do with friends (like dancing, dinner and football games). You can tell everyone truly loves the school and that makes it an enjoyable environment. I love WVU!

    Shepherd University

    • Shepherdstown, WV
    • 603 reviews
College Senior:I attend Shepherd University and fun fact it's one of the most haunted towns in America and we have a tv show. It's a small campus in a quaint town. I love the vibes and feelings while walking to class to hanging out around campus, everyone is so nice and you pass smile after smile. You really start to feel at home there because of the family you build and comfort of the town. There's lots of school spirit and fun themed days to boast moral like hot coco day, peanut butter and jelly day, Popsicle day, and so much more. There's little spots to eat around town and lots of hiking opportunities. The professors are kind and easy to talk to. The small class size is one of my favorite things because all of my professors know my name and we form a nice student teacher relationship. I would chose my school a million times over again due to the unique small town features, great professors, beautiful scenery, and school activities. You are encouraged to be yourself and have a free spirit here!

    Fairmont State University

    • Fairmont, WV
    • 571 reviews
Freshman:Fairmont State is a great small-town university! It offers small class sizes to give you an individual leaning experience. This allows the student to engage with the professor, rather than being a number in a large crowd. This university rests on a beautiful campus and offers an excellent overall student life.

    Bethany College - West Virginia

    • Bethany, WV
    • 263 reviews
College Sophomore:With Bethany being such a unique school, I believe it is up to the student to make the most of the experience. I think Bethany is definitely not the school for everyone, however each student can find their own way to maximize their experience at this school. Teachers are willing to work with student to reach optimum success, the school itself is BEAUTIFUL, the dorms are exceptional compared to other schools (especially CV, but I have also lived in phillips and have spent time in all the other dorms to know they are all good), there are decent sports programs to participate in that don't take away from school too much, and if you find a good group of friends, I can guarentee a good experience at this school. The school undoubtedly has a number of flaws, but you are getting such a unique and different experience coming to this school and if you come at it with a positive attitude, you learn to really appreciate what Bethany has to offer and have a great and worthwhile experience here.

    Concord University

    • Athens, WV
    • 431 reviews
Freshman:I like the small class sizes and how close it is to home. I like how willing the professors are to help. I dislike how money hungry and unconcerned with student affairs they are. There's literally nothing to do here.

Freshman:It is a nice campus. The professors are nice and willing to help when you need it. There seems to be a lot of technological issues that happen frequently, which is a downside. Campus food is not the best for the money that you pay. Everything is in easy walking distance. Very limited parking. Overall the campus is not bad but could use improvements.

    Glenville State College

    • Glenville, WV
    • 259 reviews
Junior:Glenville State College is a small Public college in a rural West Virginia town. Though it's 15 miles from I-79, Glenville is relatively close to several metro areas. The academics at Glenville are thorough due to the faculty to student ratio; something you won't get at a major university. Glenville also has very nice facilities for academics and athletics. Glenville has plenty of opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities as well. Tuition at Glenville is comparably cheaper than most accredited colleges and universities. The only real negatives about Glenville is parking, dorms and party scene.

    West Virginia University at Parkersburg

    • Parkersburg, WV
    • 213 reviews
College Junior:So far, I have had the best experience at WVU-Parkersburg. This small college is close-by with so many different education paths available. All of my professors have been incredible and actually seem to enjoy teaching. As an adult returning to college, I couldn't imagine a better place. I would definitely choose this college again and wished I had my first time around 15 years ago. My favorite class ever was Deviant Behavior because the professor truly knew the material and was super engaging with the students. Hoping to take another class with him if possible!
