    Augustana University

    • Sioux Falls, SD
    • 374 reviews
Junior:I did not expect to go to Augustana at all because I was looking at really big or really expensive schools, but when I saw the scholarship package that Augie offered me, I knew I had to come here. My experience at Augie has been great, as I have been able to take the money that I saved from not attending a larger state school (yes, Augie was thousands cheaper for me than any state school I applied to) and travel to 3 countries and 2 different continents. The students here are brilliant people--one girl who is in my grade was on College Jeopardy, and that's just one student that goes here! The professors here are great, as they definitely push you academically (like I didn't study before I came here) but also are some of the nicest people I know and are more than willing to help you out if you are struggling or just need another explanation for the material they are teaching. Augie is such a wonderful place, and you truly have to experience the #augieadvantage for yourself!

Junior:The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is a small university located in the beautiful Black Hills. On campus you will enjoy a family-like feel and will have the opportunity to get to know, and possible work right alongside, professors. Each department is dedicated to helping their students succeed. The placement for careers coming out of school is greater than 95%!

    University of South Dakota

    • Vermillion, SD

Freshman:I really like the University of South Dakota. The campus is small enough that it's not overwhelming, but it still gives you the feel of a big campus. There are a lot of opportunities on campus to get connected. There are over 200 clubs and organizations on campus. They also have Yote Float Tuesdays, where you can get a root beer float every Tuesday of the school year. And they have Free Popcorn Fridays and Wear Red Fridays wear you can earn points for a silent auction at the end of the year for Yote gear! I cannot explain how much I love this school, and I'm so glad I'm attending!

    South Dakota State University

    • Brookings, SD
    • 1,135 reviews
Freshman:I like that there are a lot of opportunities here. You can find everything from agriculture to theater to nursing to anything science. There are so many wonderful teachers and students to help you along, encourage you, and have fun with you. The nursing program is incredible at SDSU. We have dozens of knowledgeable nurses ready to take care of the world. Our agriculture department is on top of everything. We even have a dairy plant. I study to be an English teacher and I can guarantee I am getting exactly the education needed for me to succeed! Besides education, we have a fully stocked wellness center that is available most times throughout each week. SDSU is also home to Chick fil A, Panda Express, and several other food places that do not disappoint! The campus is clean and beautiful -- especially during the fall season!

    Presentation College

    • Aberdeen, SD
    • 131 reviews
Freshman:I haven't had much experience here at Presentation College, I have only been here for about 3-4 months but it has already been a great and life changing experience. The campus is beautiful and so is the weather (but I heard I wont be saying that come winter time.)The small campus lifestyle is also nice because with a small campus means smaller amount of students which means your professor while remember your name and I have already experienced this in a few of my classes where my professors remember my name but will also help me one on one outside of class with anything I need help with, it has a feeling as if we are all family, everyone treats you with kindness not only on campus but even people in the community. I haven't been here too long to have a change in mind for the college but if I could change something it would maybe add more to the campus.

College Sophomore:I love my school because the people are what make this school amazing. With its Christian values and Top-Notch professors, I have been receiving a quality education for a pretty great price! Dakota Wesleyan University

    • Mitchell, SD
    • 103 reviews
College Freshman:The classes which are offered by the school encourage a sense of adventure! They challenge you to try new things and to explore new avenues of yourself. There is such a variety that you can take classes that are all in your specialty field and yet still cover most of your Gen-Eds. The professors are there for you. They don't grade down in you disagree with them and they are willing to be flexible with how the class learns and completes projects.

    Dakota State University

    • Madison, SD
    • 226 reviews
College Sophomore:I absolutely love it at DSU. The instructors are really great in their fields, they actually know what they are talking about, and I enjoy going to class to learn from them. Plus, since it is a small campus you really get to know the faculty outside of the classroom too. As an English Education major, most of the English department know me personally and I enjoy just chatting with them.

Dakota State is very technologically integrated too. Every student is lent a tablet computer for classwork and they work really well for homework. They are not pristine machines, but they get the job done.

The campus is small, the environment is super friendly, not to mention really nerdy (which I love), and the friends that I have met here are like my new family. I would not change anything about my situation if I could, except to maybe become more involved on such an awesome campus!

    Mount Marty College

    • Yankton, SD
    • 122 reviews
College Sophomore:Many of the anesthesia professors at Mount Marty College have been practicing in the field for many years and not only lecture on the content from textbooks, but can relate it to their own clinical experiences to help tie the textbook to real life situations. Not only do they push us to be successful in the classroom, but also in the community where we come together as a school, take time out of their busy lives and textbooks, to volunteer and help those in need. This school prepares us not only to be experts in our field, but also as humanitarians.

    Black Hills State University

    • Spearfish, SD
    • 555 reviews
Niche User:On July 18, 2016 I had a scheduled personal visit to Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota. My visit was amazing. This is my first choice school. I like how small the school is. I am from a small town in South Dakota, so I like the small environment. The student showing me around told me, "Here, you aren't just a number. You are a student. Professors will make time for you if you are struggling." This made my decision easier. Since it's a small school, I like the fact that a professor will take time out of their day to help me.

    Oglala Lakota College

    • Kyle, SD
    • 120 reviews
College Junior:I have a full load of classes, the first class I have is Human Anatomy which is a pictel class of 4 students, who are very helpful in making sure everyone has their assignments. The teacher is in another city and teachers through online video, I see no problem only that I can't really talk to him face to face unless I call or email. In my second class Lakota History II, I feel very involved. Our Tribal Councilman came to our class and spoke to us about the issues on the reservation and took questions. I enjoyed listen and participating. It even sparked my interest in the community more. General Psychology is a very informative class, and the teacher is very friendly and easy to talk to, I enjoy this class. The last class is Intro to literature, it is also very informative and interesting because I like to write on my own. I believe it will be very helpful in developing my writing skills. I feel I have a good experience with the student community, I have had no problems with others around me. Both faculty and students are very friendly and helpful if I have questions.
