    Tulane University

    • New Orleans, LA
    • 1,424 reviews
Sophomore:Tulane is an incredibly amazing place. It takes a certain person to fall in love with it. Everyone here seems to do everything- acing a test, going to an internship, working on a nonprofit project, then spending the entire night at a party or listening to music downtown, only to wake up early the next morning to run in the park or play on a sports team. You have to be excited and motivated by this high-speed lifestyle, as opposed to stressed or overwhelmed. People do it all- and well. It is a happy and dynamic student body, who is certainly going places. Most importantly, they are interested and passionate. The city is absolutely amazing... you can find anything there, especially when it comes to music! Academics are very strong, teachers, for the most part, push students very hard but positively reward hard work! Caliber differs by department for sure- with political science, English, and foreign language incredibly strong, and math less so. Unfortunately, Bruff (dining hall) sucks.

    Louisiana State University

Freshman:What I love about LSU is all of the resources that are available to students in order for them to succeed. Whether you are having trouble picking classes, finding extracurricular activities to join, picking a major or minor, keeping your grades up, and more, LSU is bound to have some resource to help you out. There are career and academic centers full of friendly and knowledgeable people who are ready to help you. There are hundreds of clubs centered around various interests, so there is something for everyone. The student body and faculty are so diverse, and the Dean is always looking for ways to create a more inclusive, safe, and educational environment. On top of all of that, LSU is a powerhouse for sports. Even if you aren't athletic or have ever been interested in sports, you will find a home in some athletic event here at LSU. The student life is spectacular, and you will always have something to do and great people to do it with. Geaux Tigers!

    Loyola University New Orleans

    • New Orleans, LA
    • 848 reviews
Sophomore:I am a music industry major at loyola and it was a great decision. However, if you're a science kid, it may not be your best bet. But if you are super artsy it's definitely the place for you. It's a great campus environment of creativity and support for those endeavors. I love the honors program because it is a small, tight knit community with cool class choices (cults and religions filled my religion req) and helpful advantages (special study spaces, people bring in free food to share, can check out books for a longer time, good community service opportunities). The music industry program is amazing and different from any other one I have experienced because it gives you a broad, universal view of the music industry and then you can apply it to your own goals by specializing by joining on campus companies and clubs to further your experience in that area, such as the on campus live sound company and recording company.

    University of Louisiana - Lafayette

    • Lafayette, LA
    • 1,205 reviews
Niche User:Beautiful campus, everyone was friendly, I felt very safe on campus which is a very important aspect. This school is known for their partying but they also offer great classes with a student teacher ratio of around 17 to 1. It is a great size. The dorms and apartments on campus are newly renovated and very nice. There was a club for ANYTHING you can imagine! They also have many different food options on campus and it is very easy to pay for food (Your ID card acts as a credit card it is also the key to your dorm room!)

    Louisiana Tech University

    • Ruston, LA
    • 876 reviews
Junior:I have loved Louisiana Tech since the moment I set foot on campus. I love the atmosphere and the friendliness from everyone on staff. Ruston is a wonderful place to live and I've never encountered an unkind person since I began there three years ago. Every teacher I've had at Louisiana Tech has been great. In my experience, they all go above and beyond to make sure you understand the material and really learn what is taught! LA Tech has a beautiful campus. Though some of the dorms aren't the greatest place you'll stay, living on campus freshman year have me a college experience I'll never forget. The stories and memories Louisiana Tech has given me will be stories I tell for years to come. Ever loyal I will be & HBTD!

    Xavier University of Louisiana

    • New Orleans, LA
    • 1,055 reviews
College Senior:Xavier University of Louisiana was almost the perfect fit for me. I came to the right school based off divine guidance, and it has honestly been a wonderful experience. My school is renown for the sciences, most specifically, biology and chemistry. However, my major is public health. It is wonderful. I love the professors, the coursework, and the overall experience. There are many opportunities available to study abroad and do domestic exchange programs. I have taken Mandarin Chinese, and my school has it own Confucius Institute which is one of few in this country, let alone at an HBCU. I have also done an internship in Cameroon, Africa. One of the beauties about my university is the sense of community, especially in close-knit circles such as campus ministries. You build a family of friends and acquaintances throughout your matriculation at Xavier. Every semester, for campus ministries, there is a retreat that campus ministries does. Each time it is different, but every time it changes lives, builds a sense of community, and provides rest and healing to students. Each university has its own experience, but my university has an experience you will remember for your betterment. Of course there are highs and lows, but it is definitely worth the experience. Do your best to perform well before you get here, it will benefit you. It's ok to take your time, perhaps the first semester, and take general education courses as you find your major and passion. Your faith will be perhaps one of your biggest resources use it!

    University of New Orleans

    • New Orleans, LA
    • 616 reviews
College Sophomore:When I began college, I was not attending the University of New Orleans. I was, in fact, attending Loyola University-New Orleans just 15 minutes away. Loyola was a very small school, but everyone there was exactly the same - tourists, uncultured, rich, and snobby. I had made the decision to transfer to UNO after my very first semester there. I am absolutely glad I made that decision, and I could not be any happier than where I am at now. The University of New Orleans is filled with some very intelligent, cultured, caring people, and that is what I love most about it. On top of that, the teachers actually care, the campus is nice, and they have a great location within the city and near the French Quarter! Go Privateers!

    Centenary College of Louisiana

    • Shreveport, LA
    • 140 reviews
Sophomore:Beautiful small college that prides itself on being diverse and encourages everyone to participate in activities. The college is small but provides all the amenities of a larger university and gives students the ability to walk within 10 minutes from every location. The downsides to the school would be smaller grade sizes, smaller departments in need of faculty and current changes within the administration.

    Nicholls State University

    • Thibodaux, LA
    • 508 reviews
Freshman:I am a freshman this year and I am so glad I chose Nicholls State! My biggest fer coming in was that I would be all alone n campus and it would be difficult to adjust to college life. But everyone at Nicholls and even the surrounding city of Thibodaux is super friendly and they really care about your well being. And the faculty go out of their way to help you get adjusted to college life and the professors are always available if you need extra help with anything. The residence halls are all really nice and some are more laid back (Zerinue, Scholars, Ellender) while other are more on the strict side (Millet) ut they are all really easy to live in. The food is amazing and if you don't like the cafeteria food there are other options that are also really good. Nicholls also has a lot of clubs and my advice is to get involved in as many as you can because its a lot easier to make friends that way. Nicholls also gives away a lot of free food which was a huge bonus for me!

    Louisiana College

College Freshman:I absolutely adore Louisiana College! Everything from the type of education, professors and peers, to the environment, and the atmosphere... It's all incredible and incredibly exciting and loving. I love that I can get a top-of-the-line education that is centered around Christ. There is always something fun going on to help get my mind off of my studying, even for a little while. The people are so friendly and inviting! The professors truly care about their students and want them to get the most out of their teaching; they really want them to learn. I have met some of my absolute favorite people at this school and I would never dream of leaving it.

    McNeese State University

    • Lake Charles, LA
    • 682 reviews
Sophomore:I am currently a sophomore at McNeese State and have overall positive views about the university. I've liked every single professor I've had so far and hope it remains that way. The professors are very understanding and give enough time to finish any work given. I would like to see the Criminal Justice department expand. There aren't that many teachers that work in this department so they have to switch off all the time. The university is nice but it could be nicer, the buildings need remodeling. I enjoy being at McNeese and would choose it over again if I had to!

I am so grateful SLU reached out to me! I can not wait to attend there campus! The campus is very well kept and clean. So far, the students and teachers really care for each other. Everyone is so respect full of each other and the campus grounds.

Senior:This is a wonderful campus for students who are looking for the university experience, without the huge party scene. This campus is about unity, and keeping students updated with the latest academic material. The campus is always clean. Professors are more hands on, and care for each student. The campus is always active with academic student life activities.

College Freshman:I absolutely love college thus far. All of my professors are very encouraging and helpful. My college experience is unique in a way that this wonderful college has an Olympic weightlifting team that sent one of the lifters to Rio! I'm an Olympic weightlifter and my coach is doing everything in his training plan to make each lifter successful in not only thee sport but life a well. This college wants you to take your experiences and not just have fun and create memories but use them to obtain further success outside of the classroom out in the real world.

Freshman:Northwestern State University is a great school. From the academics to the campus life. The people are so helpful and kind. The dean likes to get to know you and work with you on a personal level. The professors are like your friends, they are very understanding when it comes to making changes. The school is very diverse , you have many different cultures to get acquainted with. The rooms are the best! You have your own privacy and it's best to get a room at random with a stranger. You make plenty of friends in class or surrounding areas such as the café, parties, meetings , outings on campus or maybe in the grocery store. The games are full of excitement and the crowd is always live ! Everything about the campus is beautiful. The safety is never a problem, the police ride around 24/7 the campus. The city is small but it is the perfect size for college. But if you are considering coming to Northwestern, it's the perfect school for you.

    Southern University & A&M College

    • Baton Rouge, LA
    • 665 reviews
Freshman:As a freshman at The Southern University & Agriculture and Mechanical of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I have come across many faculty and staff members who genuinely care about your future. The advisers, professors and administrators see to it that you are on the right track and you always focused on your studies. Being Southern university is a small campus and has just about 6,000 students, administrators cares about each and every one of us just as much as the next student. The only thing I would like to change on this campus is the appearance. Because we are a smaller school compared to Louisiana State University, I feel as though our needs for our campus goes unseen whereas Louisiana State's campus is constantly flourishing.

College Freshman:LSUA's motto is "Close to Home, Far from Ordinary." This school is a smaller school located in the heart of Alexandria, Louisiana. The academics are challenging; however the professors are interested in your education and success. Every year has brought new, various majors to this accomplished college! The college also has several talented sports teams, including baseball, softball, basketball, rugby, rodeo, and soccer (to name a few), with more teams being added every year. This school has around 3-4,000 students on campus which allows classes to have an intimate setting. Overall LSUA is an more than a college. This place and the people involved become your best of friends, your family, and references/contacts that will last a lifetime!

    Grambling State University

    • Grambling, LA
    • 698 reviews
Junior:What I like about Grambling most is that everybody is truly somebody. You can change everything about you and be whomever you desire to be. Another great aspect is the culture of my school. Our band and football team ring bells. There's no better place to be than Grambling during homecoming season! The amount of support that my school has amazes me. While all of these things are great, it only gets better! Every year, thanksgiving weekend is the bayou classic held in New Orleans where we play against our rivalry school Southern University! As far as the school it's very historic. The staff members are always there to help you. They might be rude but they'll help you. I can honestly say that I haven't gotten the full college experience due to me working at least 2-3 jobs as a full-time student. I'm hoping that my last year here (Fall 17-Spring 18) that I'd be able to work less days but somehow cover my bills so that I can get that college experience my last year here. Overall I love it

    Dillard University

    • New Orleans, LA
    • 528 reviews
College Freshman:My overall experience with my high school was purely amazing. From my freshman year to my senior year, my class was definitely a family. And in the end of it all we went out with a BANG! My senior year was the best and our spirit was outstanding, we won the Florida Spirit Showdown Award! But if I could describe my experience at school in one word it would be family, because just like family we were there for our school through thick and thin, when things were really bad and when they were good.

    Southern University at New Orleans

    • New Orleans, LA
    • 191 reviews
Senior:The atmosphere is great! The administrators are more like family. The institution is more concerned with you understanding the information in which you are being taught. The classes are small, which makes each class more engaging and personal. Instructors are available during their office hours to assist you if need be. The instructors are SUPER helpful. As long as you put forth effort as a student you will do well at the institution. I recommend anyone going to this university or any others to stay at one institution all four years. They say transferring an Associate's degree is easy, but it's not. Staying at one institution will help the student become molded with the proper mindset of one institution. I enjoy the people and am excited about my future upon graduation from SUNO!
