Fantastic experience thus far. I have transferred from a lackluster institution and Purdue blows it out of the water. Academics within the Polytechnic Institute have been both challenging but rewarding to pursue by yourself--or better yet with others! Campus is beautiful and is rapidly expanding upon but more housing is needed on campus and by West Lafayette (thankfully downtown Lafayette is a great off campus place to be). Opportunities no joke pop up everyday due to the connections and reputation has for its students. And nearly everyone is both kind and helpful in every aspect of your academic career. Give it a consideration, you wont regret it if you love a bigger, but personable college experience!
Purdue offers a rigorous engineering education that is ranked top in the country, but it comes with drawbacks. The living situation leaves much to be desired. Many male dorms do not have A/C and the dining courts serve low quality food that is expensive. While tuition has been frozen, it is still unaffordable for many and leads to them transferring out. Overall, the instruction of the classes is of B+ quality, but could be greatly improved with smaller class sizes. Classes, such as Calculus 1 will have hundreds of students in one lecture hall! Ultimately, I would like to see the quality of life change as it is currently very expensive and hard to justify.
My experience at Purdue University has been amazing! The professors are knowledgeable and passionate, creating a supportive learning environment. The emphasis on experiential learning has been beneficial, preparing me for my career. The campus is vibrant and inclusive, with numerous student organizations. However, more financial aid and scholarships would be helpful. Improving infrastructure and fostering greater diversity and inclusion should also be prioritized. Overall, I highly recommend Purdue University for a transformative educational experience.
