Purdue University Global - Des Moines Campus Reviews
He school does well with engaging you However, they often lose paperwork and do not have clear communication across the board with departments. I submitted the same paperwork 3 times by certified mail and got a return signature stating they received my paperwork, then I was told a 4th time they never received my papers, so where is all my personal information going? Even my transcripts that my previous school sent over had to be sent over more than once as they " never received it" . The classes are good and meet my learning style and schedule needs. However I was told by my adviser my schedule for classes would be one set and when I went to complete my seminar it stated it was a different day and time, this was for both semesters. Each time I had to outreach my adviser to find out the schedule and each time I was told " you should be in the class i originally told you i am not sure why this happened"
Overall I love everything about my experience with Purdue. However, the only thing I think that has area for improvement is working with the advisors. You may get a good one and you may not. To me, they are the backbone of your experience online. They have a very important job to do and that is to make my experience, better. We are online students and to me this part is super important. Other than that everything else has been great!!
As I have said, professors were great for the most part. A couple of the small 2 credit courses were treated like 2nd jobs and then they would nail you with a 10 page paper. When I had my beginning programming class, it should have been a finalization program to give you a taste of the terminology and creating motion. The professor was a complete perfectionist and would look to mark points off, without giving advice on what to do right. He was honestly out to fail people. What's really bad is that he was the only person who taught the class so people would get failed again! That was the beginning of the end for me.
