CalU is a great state school for anyone looking to get a good education at a decent price, while also only being an hour outside of Pittsburgh.
I do Pennwest Global Online through Pennwest California and I absolutely could not have asked for a better college experience. Even though my program is online, my experience has been nothing short of amazing. The professors are always happy to help with whatever issue you may be having and the admin staff is always right on the ball when it comes to solving any possible issue. The registration processes are easy to navigate and complete.
I experienced a huge turnaround in life. Met new people that I really care for. I wish they’d be more scholarships available in the school.
I love the dorms Pennwest California and the fact the campus is not big. I love how friendly and nice the professors are.
I love to see more school activities carried out in school and more places to eat out .

I liked that the school talked about the path for their Criminology majors. On the tour, they actually acknowledge Criminology and what classes you would take if you went to their school. I also like that for everything they offer, they aren’t totally unaffordable.
Great faculty and classes...not a whole lot of in-person options...classes fill up quick...good selection of restaurants in the student center...lots of clubs and activities
Electing to pursue my undergraduate degree at Cal U (now PennWest) is, by far, the best decision I’ve ever made. Professors & university staff treat you like family. Amazing campus rec & student center facilities (way too underutilized). Best dorms in the country. Above average party scene & greek life for a D2 school. Located right in between Pittsburgh and Morgantown (WVU). Great study lounges & academic resources. Optimal class sizes. Tons of leadership opportunities…Nothing but phenomenal things to say about my alma mater.
The school is very welcoming and clean. The classes are very engaging and are very beneficial. The only downfall to this school is that it offers very little financial help.
I enjoyed having smaller class sizes. There are lots of opportunities to work with professors and network for future research projects. The food options on campus aren't the best. There are many clubs and organizations on campus that can interest many. Being a smaller campus, it has a very cute small town aesthetic that is very beautiful in the fall. There are lots of opportunities to get involved on campus and make friends. Faculty and professors are very nice and caring. They truly care and want the best for students. It is very affordable compared to many of the larger schools in the area. The dorms are very big and comfortable. There are also apartment living options not far off campus. Campus police are very friendly and safety buttons are located around campus and in all parking lots. Greek life and sports are very popular on campus. The local area is a bit of a rundown town, but there are more shopping and food option ten to twenty minutes away from campus.
I am a first-year student attending PennWest California, and I am glad that I applied here last spring. When I was searching for colleges, I specifically wanted to attend a school with a lot of cultural variety and many clubs and extracurriculars for me to explore.
Not only does PennWest California offer many clubs and extracurriculars (from the Sustainability Club to the Paranormal Club to the Rainbow Alliance to the Medieval Club and so many more) but it also provides many different support systems for students. There are monthly events to help Freshmen become acclimated to the university. There are different on-campus counselors. There is a food pantry in the student center.
One of my favorite parts of living on-campus at PennWest California is residence life. Our Community Assistants (like RAs) are always attentive to our needs, and they hold fun events like the recent Free Laundry week. Our dorms are some of the best in the state, and I truly feel safe and welcome.

The professors are nice and are not only willing but eager to teach which helps a lot and they take time to make sure you understood the course the campus life is good to the food depends but there is one great indian chief who makes fire ass foods
I love it there, the students are amazing and seem to love their school, and the admission process was amazing and super easy, everyone was amazing and friendly there and was very easy tot talk to.
Overall the campus is small and very scenic. The food is mediocre. Student life is pretty great. A lot of activities are planned for anyone to attend. California Borough is also a nice small town. Tuition isn't terrible, but could be cheaper considering the size of campus and the amount of students.
My experience has had ups and down. I did but have a very good first month here emotionally. I’m doing a lot better now. I would recommend this college to others.
The California University Of Pennsylvania is a good place to learn and make friends. The teachers here, really care about your education and constantly remind students of their study hours and mentor program. Also, the Noss center is a great haven for students looking for help. The student here are nice and make to meet. The campus is quite small which makes getting to class and everywhere much easier. The parties here were okay but nothing special.
I loved during the orientation that they made myself and other students feel like it was a home away from home and made sure we knew that they prioritized mental health!
I haven’t started there yet, but my orientation was very welcoming and I’m excited to start, I would recommend this college to anyone.
Small class sizes, great support from professors, gives tons of real world experiences, overall great exprience
The environment at California University of Pennsylvania is rated friendly for everyone, even concluding outside community members of all areas. Many events hosted to bring students together, residents of the campus and commuters to ensure an amazing experience for everyone. To my experience with communication can be better, but this is due to a matter of the integration of the three schools (California University, Clarion University, and Edinboro University) interfering a little with that matter. Everything else has been spot on!
