I enjoyed how the staff was friendly, helpful, and treated every person the same. The admission staff helped me get the most out of time here, and helped me tremendously as a first generation college student. The teachers were motivating, and understanding, while pushing to do well. I would recommend Panola college to any person wondering if they want to go to college, or first generation college students who aren’t sure what they’re getting into. The environment is friendly, it’s filled with opportunity, and even in the small town of Carthage TX, were able to meet so many new people and build new relationships.
I have been attending Panola College since 2018 and am currently still there. As far as rooming and residential life, it was everything I dreamed college would be like. Although as for the pressure of perfect academic success and poor academic advising it could use a step up. I am not sure what's worse, being coerced into taking classes that are irrelevant or getting in said class and having immense pressure to pass with an above average grade.
I absolutely love my time at panola. My instructors have been very personable and insightful. Being the only woman in my welding classes was a little intimidating at first, however I was taken in and treated as an equal and I’ve never looked back since.
