Old Dominion University Online Reviews

Thus far experience at ODU has been great! And I am truly learning a lot about myself and the different things that interest me within academics. My online experience has also been challenging yet manageable and my professors have been very supportive and helpful with anything that I want to know or need assistance with. I am currently active duty military and ODU is very military friendly as well. One of my favorite things about going to ODU is the fact that despite me being an online student, I still have full access to the main campus in Norfolk, which is absolutely amazing! Hopefully, if everything goes well I plan on obtaining my bachelors degree at ODU as well as my Master’s Degree. Right now I am currently taking an Art class and a math class for the summer and even though the classes just began I’m finding that I am enjoying my art class more than I expected which brings me back to the overall positive experience that I am having at ODU by finding new things that interest me.
My experience with ODU online has been very good. I feel like what I get out of my classes from being online is exactly, if not better, than going in person for a class! It has helped me so much to be able to get my education while simultaneously doing other things from home. The changes I'd like to see with this is more so with the teachers. Email is the number one method of contact and some teachers should be more responsive and respectful to their students time, concerns, and efforts to reach out. There should also be more understanding when technical issues happen from home.
Old Dominion is an affordable resource to further your education to achieve your goals and ambitions! I've learned so much from not only the content provided by the professors, but my fellow classmates as well. Every course has allowed the opportunity for those to share their personal experiences. I value this in my education because everyone can read a chapter or two of the same book, but not everyone comes across an experience that allows you to dive deep into others life experiences, and how they can relate to the course content. The Masters in Public Administration (MPA) curriculum has shown me how important being a public servant can be for my local community. Interacting with like-minded people makes the experience even more worthwhile. The ODU MPA program also adheres to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices which I thought to be a very important aspect to the curriculum. My two years at ODU have gone by very fast, and I've learned so much in such a short amount of time.
