Oakland University is a great school! It's accepting of everyone and the teachers care for the education of the students. The campus is beautiful, and it offers many activities/events! Some things that could be better is the food in the Vandenburgh Hall and the cost of tuition (which continues to increase). I hope for the school to advise freshmen to bring their parents/guardians to meetings that are affiliated financial aid since they don't really know how to handle financial aid on their own. I hope for the school to build another parking structure for overnight parkers who live on campus near the dorms/apartment since the majority slots are for commuters. Overall, Oakland is a great school. If you're ever in need of help, it's available to you. From the 'Blue Lights' buttons which can contact OUPD to optional tutoring nights, you are never alone! At Oakland, I've created many memories and friends that I will never ever forget and I'm truly grateful for the experience.
Review Oakland University
I've absolutely loved my time at Oakland University and I can't wait to see what the next three years has in store for me! They're currently revamping the Oakland Center, which was already pretty cool if you ask me, and they are also designing and building more dorms and parking lots to welcome new students! Everyone on campus is very friendly and the whole campus has a cozy feel to it. There's nowhere else I'd rather be going to college. The reason I gave four stars versus five is solely based on an experience I've had with a lousy Psychology professor this spring. She was unable to properly teach material and due to her lack of approachability and time unavailability I ended with a C in the class. However, besides that minor setback, my time at OU has been wonderful!
The second I got to Oakland, I fell in love with the people, people, classes, organizations, and opportunities! Even as a commuter I was able to comfortably find where I fit in and even joined the student congress within the first month of classes as a legislator and since than have been apart of several initiatives to only make the campus even better. My classes are filled with amazing people and really great professors! I could not have asked for a better first year experience and I can not wait to see what the rest of my time at Oakland University has to offer! Thanks to my fellow congress members, advisors, teachers and classmates I am very excited about my choice in my academic career!
