I'm a first year student at Northwest Kansas Technical College. I'm here on a basketball scholarship and I've found the college to just be average. With the college moving into the Jay Hawk conference as a Division 1 NJCAA school the athletics have improved significantly with the addition of a female soccer and softball team. The academics are very good as the professors understand most of the students goals to prepare for a 4-year school. The local area is very friendly and welcoming. However I would like to see a drastic improvement int he dorms, student life, and party scene as most weekends are very boring with no activities, the dorms needing a major upgrade, and no party scene at all.
Going to this small college has advantages such as small class sizes and a close knit group of people. Some disadvantages are not much for public transportation, shopping is very limited and 2-3 hours away from a larger city. I do like going there and I have good relationships with my teachers.
