The academic staff are amazing and will work with students to achieve their goals. Amazing psychology and theatre programs on campus. The campus is beautiful and easy to walk around. The food is decent, served buffet style. Covid certainly took a hit on the student population, but people are coming back. Some professors can be hard to work with, but every college has one or two. It is a very affordable school, and won't completely break the bank.
Overall, it was a great experience. Johnson Campus is in farm country, and there is not a lot of things to do off of campus, unless you have a car. I would like there to be more activities, such as, dances to engage the students. There is nothing to do on campus, I witnessed a lot of problems with drama. It was hard, witnessing people with mental health issues struggle with social aspect of campus. I also had a hard time with being crammed into small dorms that was apart of one of the buildings. I wish they allowed you to be in a single, and not have share the smaller dorms. I feel it would help with the drama because you would have a safe space to go back to, and when the flu season would hit or a pandemic. They didn't have kitchens in every building. They only allowed it in one building, which made it hard if you wanted to cook your own meal after class. You would have to do take out or something, when the café closed, especially if your class ran late and café closed.
I loved the online curriculum and knowledge I gained from each of my online courses. The professors included activities to encourage strategic thinking, creativity, and engagement. I also enjoyed the discussion sessions with my peers. My Senior Seminar course was by far my favorite; although at first it was intimidating. I enjoyed creating my Teaching Week and my Capstone Project. It was a great way to use all of the knowledge and experience I had gained through my experience at Northern Vermont University.
