My four years at NC State University were incredible! The student body is diverse, welcoming, and supportive, and the faculty/staff are encouraging and truly want you to succeed. My experience in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences was particularly outstanding - there are numerous opportunities to get involved, make connections, and learn more about potential careers. NC State has excellent facilities, a world-class library, never-ending opportunities for growth and engagement in the community, and more. I could not be more satisfied with my time at NC State, and would highly recommend the university to any college student searching for their next home.
I have lived around NCSU since '04 now that my time to apply has come around I have come to know NC State very intimately. The Wolfpack hockey games on TV (NCSU is renowned here for their spectacular hockey team), I have friends whom their parents are alumni and wear NCSU pride on their sleeves. Return on investment is visible as most of my friends NCSU alumni parents have always had very stable work (my best friends father graduated from the school with his degree in mechanical engineering and is making over $95k a year, talk about a return on investment!). Diversity in the area is excellent, & Ive interacted on campus with people of a plethora of backgrounds, whether christian, muslim, black or asian, alumni children & first generation, there's no two students alike here. Having grown up in Raleigh I can say that we've a wide variety of outlets for live music, role-playing festivities, entertainment, etc. Overall State is probably the college in NC that I would recommend the most.
I am currently majoring in Computer Science at NC State. Being a part of the engineering program, I experience the full force of taking some of the most difficult classes that the college has to offer. Classes are very rewarding, although challenging at times, and they give me a sense of expertise in the area in which they are focused. Professors can be somewhat hit or miss, but for the most part they are decent. Because of its size, NC State is able to offer its students a wide variety of resources whether they be academic, recreational, or anywhere in between. The daily hustle and bustle of the campus provides a lively and varied environment on a day-to-day basis. There are plenty of people to meet and clubs to join, and NC State's atmosphere is very conducive to making meaningful connections with a diverse selection of people. Even though it was not my first choice, NC State gives me everything I wanted from a college experience and more.
