As a current undecided student, I think that NC State creates a very cohesive community amongst their students and staff. My current advisor truly cares about her students and wants to assist them in finding a major whilst providing them with opportunities to speak with professionals in their intended career. The professors are all very passionate about what they are teaching and are understanding of possible setbacks that a student can endure throughout their education. While the size of the university can be initially daunting, the campus is beautiful and the tight knit feeling makes the big campus feel like home very quickly. Of course with a large university like NC State, having resources for the students is very important. With a number of tragic student deaths this past semester, I think there needs to be a reevaluation on the importance of mental health with the implementation of more counseling resources and mental health days. However, I am so happy to be a part of the pack!
I have loved my time at NC State University! The environment is great for learning and I truly feel that I am being given plenty of resources and opportunities to thrive in my environment. My advisors, professors, and other faculty have been so helpful in guiding me through this path and I would highly recommend all students take advantage of all NC State has to offer academically as well as recreationally with plenty of clubs, athletics, and arts available to participate in.
When I decided to go to NC State after finishing my last two years of high school during covid, I was hesitant to say the least. As an out-of-state resident going in without being sure of what major I would go into, the atmosphere on campus calmed my nerves. When you join the Wolfpack there is no going back! In coming to State, I have grown as a person and have met the people who will be my life-long friends. Now I am a rising sophomore who intends to go into civil engineering. The staff is helpful if you contact the right people and there are a lot of resources on campus to support you. You have more freedom in what classes you take and you have control on how you want to live your life. There is a good balance between academics and social life here. Raleigh is also a great location to be in the Research Triangle. The only critique I would have is if you are interested in the Design School, transferring in is very difficult. Overall I know I can achieve what I want to accomplish.
