In the degree, certificate, and short-term workshops at NYFA New York, students learn by doing, creating projects through our signature hands-on approach. As our New York campus is located at the tip of Manhattan in Battery Park, adjacent to the Financial District and nearby Wall Street, students are close to major subway lines, providing quick access to some of the most iconic neighborhoods in the Big Apple.

At NYFA New York, we currently offer programs in filmmaking, acting for film, producing, musical theatre, screenwriting, photography, cinematography, 3D animation and VFX, documentary filmmaking, game design, digital editing, broadcast journalism, entertainment media, as well as virtual reality. NYFA also offers a range of teen and kids summer camps. For students who wish to learn online or part-time, there are additional programs to choose from.

I spent there two months in filmmaking. It is too pricey and for beginners. The conditions for my final film were far to poor (shot most alone due to bad nyfa organization). Better buy equipment for the money and shoot 5 shortfilm, plus a 50 dollar online course!

New York Film Academy was a great place for me to make connections, meet new people, and further explore my love for filmmaking. Unfortunately, due to MANY problems, it very much fractured my experience at the school. From gaslighting instructors who would go out of their way to make you feel uncomfortable in the classroom & even email other students about you behind your back, to the complete disorganization the school as a whole has when it comes to schedules, due dates, or basic information. There were of course a few exceptions in great instructors and people willing to work with you not just to, in my own instructors words “pay the bills”. I would say to really think about what this school can offer you and to do your research on this school and other film schools because there’s no doubt in my mind that there is a better and CHEAPER option than NYFA.

When I went for open house, I did not feel out of place and I had a great experience there. There is not a true "campus" as this location is in one building in the Financial District of NYC, but the building has different floors and when you enter, the front desk will sign you in and direct you upstairs. Super accessible with many elevators. The staff are personable and helpful. The programs include students from literally all over the world. They also have student life groups that meet up outside of class in the city to help students connect. The instructors are ridiculously qualified actors, producers, etc. and their classes are informative and prepare you so you know what you need to about this business, not just a few performing aspects. They have "dorms" in Brooklyn which are fairly affordable for NY life. There are also many restaurants around in a safe area so food is not a problem. Not sure about nightlife.
