Overall, Napa Valley College is an amazing place to go to school for someone who is unsure where they want to go in life. I had dropped out of SFSU when I arrived at NVC and I haven't regretted that decision one bit. Thanks to classes being relatively inexpensive, I was able to figure out where I wanted to go next for university and what I wanted to major in!
In the past year that I have attended Napa Valley College, I have had great experiences with my classes. All of my professors so far have been amazing! The college itself has a welcoming and accepting environment.
This is a solid community college especially if you are in the area. However, every aspect seems to be lacking. Engineering majors especially since the college does not offer all of the classes necessary for certain majors to transfer. Professors can be hit or miss. There are definitely more good than bad. The bad ones aren't awful but mainly lazy (Gianvecchio). But the good ones can be life-changing and honestly care about how you are doing academically and personally. Just make sure to check rate my professor. Students mainly live with their parents so not much really happens on or off campus. Before covid, there were a couple of food trucks that would come and the food was good but ever since then they haven't returned yet. Coffee shop is open again but with limited items. All in all if you are unsure about going to college or don't know what to major in, this is a decent school to dip your toes in. If you are a STEM major, I recommend just apply to a 4 year or going to DVC instead
