Mount Saint Mary College - New York Reviews
I graduated from MSMC in 2006 with a BA and in 2008 with an MSEd. My primary reason for choosing the Mount was due to the positive reviews shared among adult graduates and career changers. I was told that the Mount has the resources "to help to get you through". As a mother of 3 children living 45 minutes away, I had to be very organized and hustle. I took advantage of the resources offered and the wide variety of evening, weekend, and interim classes and I did it! The graduate program was exactly what I needed and I had a lot of working, supportive classmates to keep my positivity running. I have fond memories and am forever thankful.
Mount Saint Mary's College, although a small campus, is packed with beautiful scenery, incredible faculty and important career opportunities. The small, inclusive atmosphere of the school makes making friends an easy task! It also benefits teacher/student relationships greatly as standing out as an individual rather than just a number in class is almost guaranteed. The campus here at Mount is well kept and clean, overlooking the Hudson river which always guarantees an incredible view! Life as an on-campus resident is never dull, as faculty does a great job of keeping a consistent schedule of fun events for students to participate in! From petting zoos, to bingo nights there is never room for boredom. Mount has become a second home to me and I would recommend this institution to anyone who is looking for not only an amazing education but a comfortable, fun, inclusive college experience all around!
When the college went online in March, the professors I had were very understanding. We figured it out together, despite the great difficulty that came with an online platform. As we went into the Fall 2020 semester, all of my classes were hybrid, if not online. I spent a good amount of time in the classroom, However, as the semester went on, that time decreased. While most of my professors utilized zoom like experts, a few were still lacking knowledge in how to use the app, distracting from my learning experience. Regardless, all of my professors were understanding of the difficulties of going to school during a pandemic and were more than happy to accommodate with extensions if asked a few days before the assignment was due. They handled going to full online learning well, but each professor should be trained on how to use zoom, as well as how to set up an organized eclass.
