Morgan State University Reviews
Rating 3.43 out of 5 2,842 reviews
Initially when I arrived here, it was just as covid-19 was ravaging and so we had to take all our classes online or virtually (with video conferencing). As hard as it was for me having just moved from Nigeria, it was the best for the safety of students and staff/faculty. However, it proved worthwhile as we devised means to work in teams while collaborating on classwork and assignments. Tutors were supportive as classes resumed in-person. Also, social events and extra-curricular activities resumed in earnest and the experience has just been great. With facilities and learning tools ever-improving at Morgan State with state-of-the-art buildings springing up all the time, this seems just like an academic home for most of us! I also like the fact that I have made life-long friends and engaged with top-notch individuals and cohort from various countries all over the globe. For desired changes, I would like to see improved communication response time from faculties for students in need.
My overall experience at Morgan State University exceeded my expectations. When I first attended the school, I was in CASA-2022 and my experience there sealed the deal for me. I love how the teachers give time management advice and the layout of the buildings was easy to remember so I was always able to get around. The classes were manageable, all you need was a little time management, and you were good to go! The fall semester went by faster than expected. Though I didn't do my best that semester, it gave me some insight into what I needed to do. Then Spring semester came around and I did nothing but go to class, get something to eat, work on any assignments I had left, and repeat. Doing that I was able to get a 3.6 GPA for that semester. For next semester I would like there to be more emphasis on the clubs. I almost forgot clubs existed until the end of the semester. What I most love about Morgan State is that it gives you the opportunity to pull yourself out of the gutter.
Morgan State University has been an excellent choice for my academic journey as an international student. The faculty members are supportive, and the research facilities are enriching. Despite being an HBCU, the teaching and research standards are impressively high. Morgan's commitment to growth is evident as they strive to become an R1 research university from their current R2 status.
The financial support for graduate students is commendable, as I have been fully funded since my MS program. The campus atmosphere is warm and friendly, making it an ideal place for students interested in engineering and business fields. The only downside is the sometimes slow response from the administrative staff. Overall, I highly recommend Morgan State University for its quality education and supportive community.
