Moraine Valley Community College Reviews
The first time I heard someone talking about Moraine, they referred to it as "Moron Valley". It made me think that I would be considered stupid for going, but I was never more wrong. The environment is naturally inviting. I will admit, you have to go out of your way to seek help from counselors, but when you do go to see them they answer every question you have and more so! Everyone is nice, no one is miserable being there either. The Campus has a lot of open areas and walking space, and the buildings are easy to maneuver from each other. The Professors take their jobs very seriously as well. They feel no shame in teaching at a Community College, and they expect students to put their best effort into their work. I will happily be attending Moraine for my 3rd year in the Fall of 2018, and I plan on transferring to DePaul in the Fall of 2019, fully prepared thanks to Moraine Valley Community College.
As a school designed for commuters, it is difficult for students with work and life balance to connect and get involved with the school. The school's most popular clubs and activities were frequently made aware to students, but lesser known programs were not advertised as frequently such as clubs and the arts. Moraine Valley offered plenty of resources to help students prepare for either entering the workforce or transferring to other schools, and the staff were eager to assist students rather it be with coursework or general life difficulties.
Overall a great school! Only wish they would learn more about the professors, took a biology class where the professor was against vaccines and spent time explaining how they are harmful and unnatural. All the other professors I had were great and made me love my classes.
