I love the campus! The layout makes it feel large, but still has the small campus feeling attached to it. Everyone seems so welcoming and friendly and feels exactly like home.
MSU is a great college. It is one of the top colleges in the state yet one of the cheapest tuitions in the state. Everything about this college screams Maverick. The purple and yellow you see on your first day is a symbol to your future dreams. Just let MSU know what you want and you will achieve it.
I love going to school at MSU! It is such a great environment and so fun to be at. Living in the dorms during covid was hard but the staff made fun ways for us to bond and create new friendships.
I have been attending MSU for two years now. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we had to transition into completely online learning. Our professors were not prepared for online learning. They took three weeks to plan their online learning but were not given the tools to properly teach us remotely. Most of my classes entailed youtube videos and research papers. As we entered the fall 2020 semester, they were much more prepared. My online learning experience has been nothing but positive since.
My experience has been very positive at MSU. They have such a nice campus and welcoming community. I know if I have a question, that I could ask any faculty or staff member and they would be open and willing to answer my questions and help me out. I would recommend this college to anyone that is looking for a community, a nice campus, and a relatively affordable college. I have not had a negative experience with any students or professors. If you have a problem, they are very open and willing to communicate and problem-solve with you. They have helped me discover my passion and future degree. I will always continue to praise MSU for its academics and athletics.
One of the most difficult things about being on campus was that the internet strength in the dorms made it hard to connect to classes sometimes, but other areas were ok. Classes were organized and easy to participate in.
A big campus and student population make it easy to find your place, even if you want to blend in! The dorms are nice and because of the renovations, the buildings are nice as well.
Minnesota State University Mankato is a school that provides unlimited resources, help, and aid to its students. Whenever I have had an issue with anything regarding the school, I have always easily navigated my way to help. I believe that the staff at Mankato truly wants to see their students succeed.
Most teachers at Mankato have clearly put in effort to learn and understand the online software that we use for online classes. Not much has changed which is beneficial to the students. It is nice to know that teachers care about whether the students are comfortable in an online setting.
I've really enjoyed my experience so far! Professors are willing to help and accommodate during these trying times!
I've taken all my classes online thus far, and it's been very good! I have no problems getting personalized help from instructors/TAs/etc, and the content has been more than satisfactory!
There is always someone available to help. Being a single parent, I have run into many problems both academically and in relation to systematically in my daily schedule. There has always been alot of help provided by my advisor and teachers.
The professors have really made the learning environment pleasurable. Of course, there are technical issues that arise, but the professors help along the way to make it a positive learning environment.
I really like how the teachers really care about the students succeeding, and they make sure that all their students are feeling good about the coursework. I've even had a teacher help me figure out all the classes that I'll need to take for my degree and the best order it would be to take them in.
Something that I really like about MSU is how friendly everyone is and how seriously MSU is taking COVID and making sure the correct precautions are being taken. The only thing that I would really want to change is the food there isn't always the best. I am an extremely picky eater, so it is sometimes hard for me to find food there to eat that I like, and sometimes the food isn't the best of quality. Still, the are a variety of options to choose from.
I’m very happy with my choice to attend Minnesota State. I’ve met many incredibly kind and gifted people through my classes and on-campus job, and there are many resources to utilize. Unlike a smaller liberal arts school, however, you have to put yourself out there. That made things harder for me freshman year, but I’ve involved myself more and I am happy. In regard to cost, it’s a great value school. I sometimes wish I had chosen the U for its networks, but Mankato grads tend to work at the same companies. If you put in the effort, you’ll do well here.
D2L is a great service. Classes are streamed over Zoom. It kind of sucks, but it’s the same anywhere else. Professors are generally accommodating and understanding of these times.
The professors can be hard to work with, however tuition is significantly cheap and there are many opportunities to get involved.
Online learning has allowed me to have a flexible schedule, however it can be more difficult to work with professors. You must ensure you are staying on top of your work and communicating.
Yes I did take online classes. It went well but nothing compares to in person learning. It was hard at times just due to the idea of virtual learning.
