Schooling is VERY thorough! Information is very applicable to the field. There are a lot of APA format writing requirements. It's difficult to express opinions that do not adhere to the belief systems of the school. Most of the instructors are very generous with grading. Instructors tend to be quite disorganized which can be irritating. There is a very good emphasis on understanding studies and practicing evidence-based care. I have no doubt that I will graduate with a very good knowledge base and many resources that I have created that will serve my future practice.
Everything that I have experienced so far with Midwives College of Utah as an incoming Freshman has been extraordinarily positive. Their mission and their execution of it are exemplary. They have social justice and human rights at the core of their curriculum and their student relations. They are student-focused, producing Midwives of Excellence in a personal and nurturing way. I am proud to be a mother going back to school at MCU.
The distance education model helps students learn from the comfort of their home. Being home is convenient, and being able to place with a local preceptor allows you to work within your own birthing community. Since COVID, online learning has became so much more efficient, and MCU has the best learning module I’ve ever seen.
