I have loved my whole experience at MC! From the new friendships to my academic relationships with my professors and advisors. As an McPherson athlete I feel that I am equally valued in the classroom and on the court. What I would change would be the housing the college provides. Housing is limited for students who are needed to be on campus and the housing that is provided on campus is very dated and clearly not viewed as a priority.
McPherson College offers me as a student a better chance at success. The smaller class sizes and the tight community are great backbones to create a strong scholar. I’ve never been afraid to ask for help since getting here, and I’ve made plenty of friends. There’s massive study spaces like the pound, the library, and the gazebo. Plus, there’s plans to do some expanding in the near future which is really exciting for me as a student. What I’d like to see improve mainly is the dorms. There rather old and not so modern. Furthermore, the cafe food while good is repetitive. I’m pleased they offer vegan and glutton free options though.
McPherson College is not the school I was told it was. They do not pay their student employees enough, their housing is not sufficient, it is super hard to get approved to live off campus, the food is not good, the school and all of its thousands of fees are outrageously expensive, the staff and faculty play favorites and are really hard to work with. As temporary summer staff on the same pay scale as student employees, you make less money. I am really happy that I am transferring in the fall.
