Louisiana State University Reviews
LSU is amazing! As far as my academic experience with professors, they have all been very helpful and supportive. Most professors here really care about the class and helping each student learn especially in the smaller class sizes. There are endless ways to get involved at LSU. From greek life festivities to ground shaking Saturdays in death valley, LSU is the place to be if you're looking for a good time. Safety issues have been a growing concern amongst many students. Unfortunately it is not uncommon for people (particularly females) to be victimized by violence in or around campus. In fact, my sister experienced an occurrence first hand when she was robbed at gunpoint as a freshman. Unfortunately the surrounding area enveloping LSU's campus is embodied by violence and poverty. However, if you stay smart and keep yourself aware of your surroundings, LSU is genuinely one of the most beautiful and peaceful campuses in Louisiana.
As a biological sciences major, my first year at Louisiana State University was an irreplaceable experience that I would definitely say attributed to my development, maturity into adulthood, and overall improvement as a scholar. LSU's College of Science offers its students many academic advisory, research, and laboratory resources in order to provide an exemplary educational environment for its students to thrive. The student community is diverse, and campus life is so eventful and lively. Everyday holds a new sight and experience that I feel I would never have gotten anywhere else and I am excited to see what the future holds for me during my remaining undergraduate experience!
I graduated from LSU with a BS in electrical engineering. While I loved the campus and the time I spent with my friends, I thought the school’s academics were TERRIBLE. LSU’s electrical engineering program had some of the worst teachers I have ever encountered. I finished a graduate degree at another university and my experience was completely different – I had teachers who taught – image that. I also give LSU the worst possible scores when it comes to job placement. The school does little to attract high tech companies. So, it’s not easy to get a job with Google, Apple… when the only companies interviewing students are from the oil/gas industry. Not to mention the people who worked in career planning and placement did very little to help me prep for the job market. Fun school, beautiful campus, but DO NOT study EE at LSU, and don’t expect any help finding a job!
